some interesting results from this weekendā¦
watched about as much as i could stand of folkā¦ not a ton of great matchupsā¦ did watch some of an open at an NAIA school that had no D1 wrestlersā¦ had to watch a kid i knew that a buddy and i always make fun of each other aboutā¦ it was pretty rough wrestlingā¦
had some friends come into town to see western (#2 JUCO schoolā¦ champs '23 and '24) wrestle WY in dualā¦ much better wrestlingā¦ only real thing of nots nationally is that56 christian carroll is still very very goodā¦ at WY he is allowed to be at heavy and looks happy thereā¦ he is so short i am not sure how deep a run at heavy he can make at NCAAs, but, damn he looked good saturdayā¦
bassett wins the clarion open fairly handily at 49ā¦ he wrestled everyone they put against him, but, overall a pretty weak bracket in a nationally weak weightā¦
miller wins his bracket at 57 and picks up a win over cannon who is not a punk at allā¦ wasnāt too crazy how he did it with counters after getting pushed around the mat bad enough to actually give up stall points in folk in the first period, but, beating cannon is a quality win no matter how it is doneā¦
Bouzakis looked much better at 25 then i would have ever imaginedā¦ he did not look too over sized and moved wellā¦ he pretty much controlled knox who is not a punk at allā¦ he did lose in the finals against teammate mccrone and it will be interesting to see if tOSU uses that as a wrestle off going forwardā¦
other interesting tidbits i saw happenned but did not watch at allā¦
nebraska at the navy openā¦ some personally relevant resultsā¦
kael lauridsen took 5th in a weak bracket at 25ā¦

and of course ferrari did not wrestleā¦
i think McCrone should start but they will probly split it
i do not pretend to know how that situation will play outā¦
25 is a tough weight to maintain for a full season anymore and bouz looked good enough that losing to a teammate might not be the end all be allā¦
i do not think Buzz can maintain 125 and be effective all year.They may wrestle off again but right now McCrone should be the starter but idk

he is only 22, which, is older than most non-wrestler juniors in college, but, nowhere near some of these guys outrageous ages going into collegeā¦

The next year, as our 98lb varsity freshman, I thought it would be cool to bring homemade muffins to the team after our very first morning weigh-in.

on top of the above he is also a U23 World Gold and a Senior World silverā¦
all age appropriate and not being held back at allā¦

i have heard and verified that jordan williams looked really good in his iowa debutā¦
i have a long history with him and his familyā¦
always had a bit of a side eye with him until several years ago at the US Open when he came and sat with our crew and i found out he is a really great kid just trying to navigate being dealt a rough handā¦
those i know and respect love him in iowaā¦
nothing but the best for that kidā¦

richards lost to DOM in a very uninspired match from himā¦ just does not have any greco tools and does not appear to be have added anyā¦
peyton robb was getting totally controlled by france down 10-4 and robb started pushing and clubbing france hard and france finally had enough and open had slapped him right as time expired and they DQed franceā¦
i guess the US gets screwed all the time over seas, but, that felt really lameā¦
