DeSanto seems like hes improved from his hard work…good to see

he looked good overall, but, you can’t give up 11 and expect to win any match…

competition was a bit suspect overall, but, you can only wrestle who shows up…

he has one more match to complete the round robin…

always root for that kid…

wins a win and sounds like he did well his last 2 matches,…usually not an Iowa fan but root for DeSanto and Lee

aight…

i am not going to bother leg grabbing repechage…

gonna catch a couple of winks before pretending to work…

be back for finals…

I like DeSanto’s never say die attitude. I feel like his first match is one that a lot of guys wouldn’t win given the same situation. He thrives and makes it work for him.

i would have togo watch his first match way more closer… there was 4 guys on 4 mats at the time…

not sure it matters, he ends up with the most classification points of the round robin and should go home with gold

bronze medal matches starting up…

lee and RBY will be next… i would not be surprised at all if RBY drops him…

RBY with the jazz hands… warned… lee ducks under the hand fight and gets the low single and comes around for the TD and the gut to go up 4-0 early…

RBY comes up hobbling… has an ankle… not sure what happened…

wow… RBY medicals out out… Lee not happy about it…

mckenna and france for bronze…

Lee has his number. RBY has the better physical tools, but Lee has him beat mentally.

not sure i agree with that, but, doesn’t matter…

just kinda a bummer way to end the match…

61kg does have another match between iran and georgia, so, maybe desanto is not guaranteed the gold just yet…

looking again at the bracket again, and desanto should end up with gold… he had 6 classification point lead going into this match and iran is only going to get 4 for the tech…

RBY isn’t even going to the podium… maybe fairly serious injury?

retherford on his podium spot…

an american coaching an athlete repping mexico and now stepping on the podium for mexico…

anyway…

mckenna up now… i am preparing myself mentally to be very annoyed watching him…

france initiating the hand fight… almost gets the go behind… defended well and now M trying for the go behind… whizzer stops the action no score…

M tries a high crotch from 3 feet away and easily avoided… M warned for passivity…

M on the clock…

france on the front head and almost gets somehting going before shot clock expires… 1-0 france

M still avoiding action… france dives in on an ankle and M drapes over and ends flattening him out… 1-0 at the break

lots of pawing from space… M jumps front head and goes heaqd pinch but can’t get the exposure…

right off the whistle and france not ready to wrestle and M goes double for the TD… silly by france… 2-1 M

M in on a leg… france defending well but M stays with it and finally gets the TD… 4-1

ref had enough of M paddy cake to the face… M on his bike… ends up with bronze…

good for him, but, if i never had to watch another McKenna match it would not bother me at all…

didn’t watch all of it, but, inthe other 65kg bronze emdal match iran was up big on georgia and georgia gets a lace locked up and rolling iran all over the mat and looks like he is on his way to taking the lead but iran screams in pain and the ref stops the action at 10-6 for iran as he is getting rolled up more…

don’t agree with that at all…

but, i guess gamesmanship by iran and ends up with the 11-6 win…

parker and India…

henson and musukaev…

all for bronze at 70kg…

henson in on a shot immediately and gtets the TD on Mus… surprising… henson tryint toi club hard and gets a finger waving at him… Mus with a niofty spion move and gets to the leg and has it up i nthe air… drives him to the edge trying to pull him back in but only gets the step out… 2-1

Mus always the character… first ends 2-1 with Mus looking at times disinterested and then annoyed and then burst of action… lastim i saw him he was throwing bones on the mat…

henson keeping the pace up and shot on the edge Mus sprawls OOB for the step out… 3-1… Mus starting to wear down as per usual… henson gets to the ankles for the TD 5-1…

henson in on the single Mus defends and switches the action… has him on the edge and henson steps out but they let it continue… henson ends up behind and ref awards 2 but rightly reverts to step out… 5-2

Mus chasing him down… gets the step out and caution and 1 for fleeing late while henson is stepping out of ankles opretty well… 5-4 is how it ends… good win for henson…

oparker and india looks to be mostly hand gffighting… india on the shot clock… 1-0 parker… looks like india got a TD and is up 2-1 going into second…

looks like parker loses 6-3 to india…

clearly i was watching musukaev more because you just never know what might happen…

green and france for bronze at 74kg…

green hanging heavy on the head… gets his jazz hands going… not creating any angles…

tries elbow pass… then double… all for naught… france goes o nthe shot clock…

france hits a slick high crotch to a firemans and gets the TD to nullify the shot clock… 2-0 france…

back to hangin on each others head… france snaps green to his face but he recovers quickly… 2-0 at the break…

green shooting shot after shot but france catching him unders fairly easy… jacks him up a bit with the unders and goes outside trip for big throw to greens back for 4 and then the pin…

that will be o nthe highlight reel…

carr and japan for gold at 74kg…

japan very low stance… like he has actually watched a carr match before…

japan warned for passivity…

japan half hearted sweep single attemnpt… japan on the clock…

1-0 carr… not a ton of action to end the first… both pawing at each other form space… ref constantly on them to make contact… japan is not coming out of his stance… 1-0 at the break…

carr tries to bum rush and japoan shrugs him and there is a moment of actual action…

carr on the clock now…

1-1 japan on criteria…2 minutes left

japan keeps catching carr with unders on his doubles…

they put japan on the shot clock again under a minute left…

2-1 carr 30 seconds…

japan finally makes a committed attack for the ankle that ends up with carr getting the go behind and the win 4-1…

not the most entertaining match but japan had a good strategy and it was 100% working, but, once he was o nthe clock again his fate was sealed…

keck and georgia for the gold at 86kg and final match of the day…

hard hand fight… clubs… Geo tries a shrug…

ref warns for the clubs… no biggie… Geo warned for passivity…

keck touches a leg but Gep blocks easily…

then Geo gets to a leg and drive keck OOB… 1-0 Geo…

keck toches the leg and drives Geo OOB… 1-1…

that is how the first ends 1-1 keck on criteria…

not a ton of action, but, super hard hand fighting… i approve…

little scrambly in the second with both changing levels and getting reactions… geo tries to get keck OOB but good circliong…

wash rinse and repat…

they put Geo on the clock… i guess the ref had to do somehting but whatever…

2-1 keck about a minute… keck drives Geo OOB to go up 3-0…

geo changes elvels and get kecks leg in the air… keck headed out geo almost gets the TD OOB but just a step out… 3-2 with 30 left…

geo asks for the brick… maybe wants a caution and 1 foir fleeing…

challenge lost… 4-2 keck…

jazz hands for geo refwarns keck to stand and fight…

Geo step out 4-3

drive keck to the edge again and almost gets the step out but keck circles for the 4-3 win and gold…

really hard fought match…

i am a keck fan…
