Ildar is a monster… WCAP

he is originally from Uzbekistan and was their Olympic rep as an 18 year old almost 20 years ago…

don’t remember exactly when he became a US citizen, but, he has been repping the US from awhile… well over 10 years…

between him and roberts, they have been our 60kg rep for like the last decade…

max is 1-4 against Ildar and 1-1 against roberts…

it is almost criminal that Ildar does not have a world medal… he is so good, but, always seems to melt mentally when he is wrestling overseas… doesn’t wrestle like he does domestically…

he has moved up to 63kg this season…

saw him against Roberts He was losing then pinned him..

when max first came on the senior greco scene a few years ago, they wrestled in the US Open finals…

max was very loud and brash 19 year old kid on and off the mat and him and Ildar is exactly the opposite… they did not get along at all…

Ildar decided to give Max a lesson in eastern european respect…

max was wrestling him pretty well early and ildar tried to arm spin or somehting similar… max then tried to cart wheel over him and ildar caught him in a very obvious and intentional fishhook and then once he was on his back dug his fingers deep into his neck to get the pin…

max got out and came right back at him almost getting to the hip… Ildar kinda gave him a bit of a smile…

i don’t remeber exactly what next, but, ildar got on top again and hulk smashed him with a toss from par terre and knowing max was teched picked him up again like he was going to toss him again and just straight dropped him…

it was some of the most gangster shit i have ever seen on the mat…

we could not see the fishhook matside but it is very clear on the replay…

when we were being shown the replay later it was kinda shocking…

max was laughing, “we can do that shit?”

max and Ildar have a much better relationship now… Ildar finally realized that max is a big personality not necessarilly disrespectful… and to be fair, max has got a bit calmer the last couple of years…

the Raney twins committing to Iowa has been picking up steam in the rumor mill…

reading what all the forum nerds say about greco and who is a great greco coach is always amusing to me…

with mocco’s commit to iowa yesterday, if they get the raney twins along with having deluca/bassett/ferrari iowa is going to be in great shape in a couple of years…

that is a monster line up…

he does things no one else this country does…

the way he ties up arms is very judo like and when he ties them up he is trying to break them and his par terre is nasty…

again, it breaks my heart he doesn’t have a world medal…

i was totally out of the loop on this national duals… paycom throwing the money around…

OKLAHOMA CITY (April 2, 2025) – The National Duals Invitational, a groundbreaking $1 million collegiate wrestling event sponsored byPaycom, has announced the qualification process for the inaugural 16-team bracket. Featuring top programs from across the country, this high-stakes tournament will bring together elite competition and unprecedented prize money to the BOK Center in Tulsa this fall.
Automatic entry will be awarded to the top 12 teams in the final 2025 NCAA Division I standings: Penn State, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio State, Cornell, NC State, Northern Iowa, Illinois, Virginia Tech and Michigan. To secure their spots, these 12 teams must complete their participation agreements by April 15. Final teams will be listed on the website as they are confirmed.
“While we know this is not an accurate representation of dual team rankings, we believe it will ensure that the event features some of the best competition in the country,” said Matt Surber, Tournament Director. “I’m excited to see additional participation as we grow the sport of wrestling.”
The remaining spots will be filled through a random drawing on April 24 from teams that finished 13-24 in the NCAA standings. The teams competing for these final spots are Purdue, Missouri, Lehigh, Pennsylvania, Little Rock, Arizona State, Stanford, West Virginia, Navy, Wyoming, South Dakota State, Indiana, Maryland and Oregon State.
The premier 16-team event will feature a total purse of more than $1 million. The top eight teams will earn payouts, with the winning squad walking away with $200,000. The second- and third-place teams will earn $150,000, while fourth place earns $75,000. Fifth through eighth place payouts will be: $50,000, $40,000, $25,000, and $20,000, respectively. All participating teams will receive $20,000 for attending.
Thirty-four-time NCAA champion Oklahoma State will serve as the host school.

One of the coaches where my son wrestles, kid came in third in his weight at Tulsa nationals earlier on in the year. And I believe another coaches son did really well as well. Young kids.

did you reply to the wrong post?

i am not following…

What I was referring to was for non college age kids and happened earlier in the year. Just talkin over here bud :man_shrugging:

gotcha…

i am very familiar with tulsa nationals…

otto placed like 5Xs there… he had an eagle…

max never placed at nationals but took second at kick off one year… got his picture on the cover of win magazine getting his face smashed into the mat by the winner… that kid had the pic as his track profile for years…

My Instagram link went away! It was a good clip about LJB’s son. Nothing controversial or anything … :enraged_face:I guess editing it, I removed it accidentally… Will try to find it and repost.

It’s linked just a couple of posts above…

But, I do appreciate the support…

Watching a flo film I missed…

Elite Company from 2014…

I remember the practice that Derek fix said after I’m pumped to watch JB and DT…

I remember the next practice when Derek laughed about JB saying naw dawg, DT take off the head gear…

It used to be a thing…
