I saw it last night and liked it. Top 3 movie in the alien franchise.
Spoilers below: (does this forum allow for bluring spoilers like the OG?)
[spoiler]Bringing back a digitized ash android named rook was kinda cool except the CGI was sort of bad on it. They should have just found a guy that looked like Ian and messed his face up some and had him do a live version.
I learned that facehuggers can be born from a cocooned human. The cocoon human slowly turns into an Alien egg like thing that creates the face hugger. So eggs not only come from a Queen.
Showing a small swarm of Xenomorphs brought back the Aliens feeling as well as the pulse rifle including sounds.
Why do WY androids always have terrible motives? Company first mentalities.
Nice that Big Chap from Alien went on a carnage round 2 before he was dispatched. That was an interesting part of the story.
The human alien was an interesting concept and basically explained why WY wanted to capture the original. Not just for a bioweapon but to extract the DNA and use it to evolve humans to be able to work on new worlds without sickness, disease, or environmental concerns.[/spoiler]
Overall, it ranks 3rd behind Alien and Aliens.

Always loved the movies since i was a kid, but never seen one in theatres; i was planning on making Romulus my first.

that makes sense in today’s climate where AI tools are shaped by the image of the company that developed it
The alien movies have always been anti-corporation and the corporate-AI complex is relavant thing to explore in the movies.

Just watched it. Great movie overall and great old school Alien horror movie style. It was fantastic and I’ll watch it again with my oldest son.

Listened to a few reviews. Apparently it’s a bit crap and regurgitative so I will stay clear.
They rehash the “Get away from there you BITCH!” line. I hate it when they do shit like that… “Come with me if you want to live”, “I’ll be back”. It makes a mockery of the films IMO.

I wish we could have gotten a continuation of Prometheus.
The best parts of Sci-fi are when they’re exploring alien worlds in a believable way.

I too disliked the second and a half it happened in.
But the runtime is 1h 59m so that left a ton of other really great classic horror AND Alien shit to enjoy.

its not as bad as you think. I would recommend watching it. I think some people were just grossed out by the 3rd act

The black goo extracted from the Xenomorph by Rook which then creates the mutated human.
Loved it.
My only 2 gripes were Rooks CGI and the member berries with the get away from her you bitch line. Cheese like that has no room in the Alien universe.
Everything else, awesome.
It needed new life and it didn’t diagrace the franchise.

I dug it. Sure it was mostly retread and combo of the first 4, but the action set pieces were well thought out and executed and chained together nicely.
Nice to see the freaky tall basketball guy from a few years ago has found his niche though
i never understood the complaint about that. Rook was damaged and therefore had a wierd movement going for him which fits. I thought the the CGI for Rook was fine from my perspective.
Watch his mouth when he speaks. You’ll notice.
