So I started weekly, then twice weekly, thats where all the acne and bsck hair started. Big ass needles too.

Rich Chou had good intentions

Reality

The woke police at Alta hung him out to dry and Rich took a major hit over the forum

Did you watch his recent appearance on Erik Apple’s podcast?
He straight up says he hadn’t been on the UG in many years before the purchase and had no idea what it had become, and that it needed to be cleaned out.

I just watched it. Even if that were the case that it needed an overhaul, the actions him and/or the company took were wrong and completely unacceptable. Publicly exposing user information and then randomly banning or suspending users for no reason. Long time valuable users and newer idiots alike.

Then completely destroyed the forum and took it down. All without a single message, email, phone call or notification on why it was happening. No attempt to make things right. Even if you wanted to censor the forum, that’s not how you go about doing it.

He didn’t address that in the conversation with @ErikApple at all.

I get it. He doesn’t make the decisions. But I think the problem was the lack of communication and even more so his insistence on being there to take care of the forum and restore it to its glory days. He is/was the face of Alta and was an original UGer, trained, competed, and was a big part of the fighting community. He was supposed to be one of “us” and I think a lot of people felt betrayed by him personally for what happened.

I don’t think that he ever liked us and couldn’t wait to flush the forum; If it wasn’t Rich it was going away

He refused to tie the forum into the database in order to help grow it

It makes me sad that it is completely gone

I pretty much agree with this but I’ll add that Rich should have addressed what happened way before now.
