Alta Goes Bankrupt. Old Forum Deleted

This is a little warped view. I agree that Alta shit the bed and handled the community wrong, they are scum. No questions about it.

But we keep leaving out the core reason why this all went wrong. KIRIK. He was the one saying he was going to shut down the forum within a month in his post announcing the sale. He’s the one who mismanaged the community and didn’t help hand it off. He left us and all of the history. He washed his hands of us and let us be crucified. No BUSHIDO.

Kirik went to Alta and said he was going to shut it down if they didn’t want it. It was his last chance to hand it over and get out with no debts. Remember, originally, Kirik had million dollar offers on the table for the forum and the domain. He eventually walked with some cash and a bunch of stock that isn’t worth dick.

Alta took the opportunity because it saw what we all know it has. ACCESS. The whole goal of Alta is to monetize the thing that the OG does best, community. They want to make Alta the middle man for gyms, merch, and the people both inside the MMA/combat arts community and the potential consumers who they could make new money from.

The problem is, Alta is run by slimey people who don’t care what they destroy to get there. They took advantage of the fact that Rich used to post there and that Elvis (Pro fighter) had been a member back in the day.

So yes, Alta is ASSHOOOOOOOE. But so is Kirik.

I believe that was the sole reason they purchased the site. Hope Kirik’s stock options were worth it.

To be honest, I can’t imagine a scenario where the old forum was kept open as is. Way too much derogatory and political stuff was being posted there. I believe many valued forum members had already dispersed as a result. Years ago those sorts of posts were mostly in the background, but then things changed.

What would you envision as a fix? IMO, it’s over. They trashed it, and we’ve got a great, dare I say better, place here.

I agree, things are better here. There is no fix.

Rich’s comment of “hopefully the old guys come back” was weird. Why would we do that? You kicked us off the site and didn’t have a reason for it.

Domains (there were 2) and the history from the site.

Just the UG alone has a lot of MMA history. And the OG has Cami stuff and all our old posts.
