Don’t know. Woke up and it said my account was suspended. Last post was on topic about names being outed and I said I’m glad I’m not a pro member because I don’t trust them with my payment details. It was too frustrating anyway to be unable to use words like “hopefully” because it contained the word “ho”.

Do you want to go self-hosted or stay with Discourses offerings? Self-hosted requires setting up a mail service to handle transactional emails and can be an additional expense.
Quickest would be to stay on hosted Discourse.
Cheapest would be self-hosted on something like a Digital Ocean droplet but you have to manage the backend and email services yourself which can become tedious/costly if there’s growth.
For funding I think we can get a subscription/donation plugin going and see if we can keep ourselves self-sustaining. That’s the only way to not be beholden to advertisers.
Hell, maybe we run user ads to help cover costs. They can promote whatever they want to the user base, their business, their YouTube, their ZJ services. It’s limitless really

They never gave us reasons. Some people it was kinda obvious. Others it was just for existing. The long time mods and members without warning was insidious.

This does mean we’d need to set up banking of some kind. The question really is how legit are we trying to do this? Do we do everything correct from the jump which takes longer, or do we strike while the irons hot, run-and-gun, and deal with the tech debt/consequences later?
I’m totally open to doing this. I just don’t know what the best/most transparent way of funding the site is.
It seems like the easiest way.
I’m currently looking into the Digital Ocean route, as I can just pay for it myself each month if it isn’t a crazy amount.

i was under the impression the entire og was gone. i was logged in shit talking like everyone else and then all of a sudden i was logged out and my login didn’t work.
no warning or notification sent.

I have some available hosting space with HostGator but I’m not really sure I want to be that guy to manage such things when I can barely manage things for myself.
