Either 8th or 9th grade, can’t remember which, but the 2 biggest and toughest guys in the school had been in an orbit towards conflict for some time. It came to a head after lunch one day in the school entry way. They squared up and one said to the other “take off your jacket” which he began to do. As his arms were back sliding the jacket off, the first guy drilled the jacket guy square in the jaw. Jacket guy stumbles back, stands for a moment, then throws his arms out and yells “RAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRRRR” and charges into the guy who’d thrown the first punch. Everyone just stood in awe as the two giants traded blows round and round. An older male teacher was the first to arrive and all he could do was stand to the side saying “stop, stop it, STOP IT I said!” over and over. Eventually a couple more teachers arrived and got the two to stop fighting. Even after they were led away we just stood there, dumbstruck at the battle we’d just witnessed.
Afterwards, as was customary at the time, they made somewhat of an amends and from then on had an unspoken but respectful truce.
I suppose my age factored into how impressive it was, but it has always been one of the best damned fights I’d ever seen.
I was also in attendance for Hendo vs Shogun and that might be the best one for me too.
Special mention for Anderson vs Chael 1. The build up and everything made that one really special but what took place in the cage was better with Hendo/Shogun.
Saw Ricky Hatton stop Kostya Tzu in Manchester for the IBF light welter title. Atmosphere was nuts and the fight was pretty wild. OP wins the thread tho cause Shogun Vs Hendo 1 is my all time favourite mma fight. First ever 5rd non title main event. So glad i stayed up till 6am to watch it live but to see in the flesh must’ve been electric.
Back in the day, I was hoping to see Tito vs Shamrock for my bday but it was sold out. Instead, I was able to get tickets to WFA the night after. Saw Tito in person. The dude’s head is way bigger in person. Anyways, I saw Frank Trigg vs Dennis Hallman. It sounded like a home run hit when Trigg kicked Hallman in the balls. Then I watched on the big screen, Hallman pulling his short’s waistband out and telling his cornermen to look at his balls.
I’ll never forget that night as long as I live. Only MMA event I’ve been to and while the main event ended with a guy showing off his busted balls to his cornermen, at least it wasn’t a forgettable 5 round grind fest.
Carwin/Lesnar. People were losing their minds. I was shocked that Lesnar had so many fans at the fight. When he finished him the fucking place erupted into about 50% cheers and 50% Screaming “NOOOO!!!”
I was standing next to a tubby albino named corey in highschool when he got his ass beat by a scronny drug addict named george hash. George never, ever, ever talked, and he weighed maybe 120 pounds. Corey thought he was an easy target to elevate himself out of the douche realm so he said something derogatory to him in front of a pretty girl. George didnt say shit, but after class he walked directly up to him and started landing uppercuts to his face. It was surreal. He knocked several of his teeth out and broke his nose. I followed corey to the bathroom and watched him spit up blood and teeth. It was awesome.
