Didn’t this happen to the Las Vegas Strip after the casinos reopened after the 2020 shutdown? I remember stories of mostly “urban” visitors spending their government payouts and fighting, trashing hotels and casinos, etc. A lot of people canceled trips over this. Not sure if it rebounded.

I go to Vegas twice a year.
It absolutely happened during the covid handouts.
The strip was crazy with fights and shootings.
The urbans completely took it over for a while.
The Asians were smart. They stayed away. I remember thinking, where are all the Asians?

I grew up poor, and I’d like to point out that lots of things are that way.
When my parents moved to the town I grew up in, their number one search criteria for living accommodations was: affordability. By some amazing coincidence, the most affordable housing was also located exactly at the epicenter of welfare recipients, petty crime, stolen shopping carts, and Tuesday afternoon public drunkenness. Amazingly, everyone in town named Crystal, Wayne or Aiesha just happened to live on my block.
One of my mother’s guiding principles was trying to do everything in the cheapest way possible. Sometimes cheapest solution was so useless as to not be a solution at all. Sometimes the cheapest solution worked but used a ridiculous amount of time. Sometimes the main difference between the cheapest thing and the more expensive one was that if you used the cheapest one, you were going to have to be surrounded by other poor low-class scumbags.
Housing, school districts, zoning, home owners associations, vacations, summer camps, private pools instead of public municipal pools, private beaches, upscale restaurants, dress codes, private clubs where existing members have to vote new members in, doormen who turn people away, and helpful people who explain to undesirables that the might be more comfortable somewhere else. These are all tools that the haves can use to avoid the nasty brutishness of the have-nots.
And lastly, charging more money for the same thing, so that undesirables will select the cheaper option and leave. Yes, that’s a real thing. Looking at video from these “Lost continent of Atlanta” type cruises, makes me sure that there’s a market for exactly the same thing, but priced higher to keep “those people” out.
