Even during the Lidell Era, boxing fans were saying how they’d destroy UFC fighters. Maybe they saw some of Lidell’s sloppy haymakers and didn’t realize Chuck would take someone down if he was in trouble. I know Dana would put a high-profile boxer in there if they agreed to step up.

This was as close to a fixed a fight as we have seen in the UFC in the modern era. Putting on a heavyweight fight featuring a literally retarded man with the frame of a healthy 160 lbs, & no mma, wrestling or grappling experience against a future first ballot hall of famer, former muti-time, multi divisional world MMA champion, and Olympic caliber wrestler is disgusting. This is worse than any “freak show” Dana talked shit on PRIDE for staging.

Didnt know all that, thats a shame and not a surprising move by the UFC.

Obviously a setup to attempt to elevate the UFC and lessen boxing, which as had ppl doing that to it for a long time now.

Really sucks.

The entire point was to show boxing vs MMA. And Randy was 5yrs older. There was no setup, it wasn’t a shock choice of opponent. That’s literally how it was advertised and marketed.

Toney got $500K and took basically zero damage. If the UFC wants to pay me a half mill for a wrestler to take me down and choke me out in about 2 mins then I’m in.

He was doing eco challenge runs and James was woefully out of shape. Getting him through medicals must have been the same Doctor who got Tyson through to fight Jake Paul.

Toney was so brain damaged he could barely formulate a coherent sentence. Toney was a 160 lb fighter in his prime. He’d taken more damage in 1 of his fights with Montel Griffin than Randy took his entire life. He couldn’t book fights because boxing promoters couldn’t sell tickets to his fights anymore. At least they got CM Punk set up at a real MMA training camp. This was rigged.
