To me it doesn’t seem very controversial as Craig wants to be the celebrity BJJ party troll rather than a trainer of guys still competing or the next gen. He was spending all his time on YouTube travel docos and the CJI events.
I also thought by separating himself he avoids accusations of bias in his events like what happened with CJI2.
Craig is lost without Gordon in the BJJ scene. He’s like Joker without Batman.
He actually announced before the event that he was leaving. And was supposed to announce it way later, but did it in a surprise YouTube video that the other owners didn’t know about.
Well, for starters, after years of saying “it’s not my story to tell, it’s poor Nicky’s so I’m sworn to secrecy, I am just being a good friend” and then on a drunken bender said on Instagram that Gordon had told Nicky to fuck the dumb Brazilian broad Gordon was married to and Craig was framing it as “oi mate, you’re a pedophile.” A week after this post, Nicky and Gordon started talking to each other publicly for the first time in something like 4 years.
Craig also made made a public post from the gym account when he was still an owner throwing Jay out of the gym, and reposting a jays ex girlfriend pettily accusing him of pushing her and making her feel unsafe and that Nicky Rod had tried to bully her into “not telling her truth.” Nicky Rod was an owner at the time, and Craig hadn’t set foot in the gym in almost a year at that point but was using the gym account to market his DVDs while he was out doing blow in Columbia.
Add into that stuff like the other B Team guys doing a post cji 2 podcast all completely sober from a party Craig was throwing, pissed off that they were there at all because Craig told them to show up there and podcast instead of eating and when they got there he was too smashed and fucked up and refused to do the podcast and just kept trying to get them to party with him when no one else wanted to.
Also him intentionally embarrassing Chael in 30 seconds at cji because he felt like Chael had played asked for too much money to save the show and grapple him on short notice, when he should have carried him a bit. Then making a bunch of erratic posts about how he was going to disappear from social media after cji 2, that he had lost money on both events and there wouldn’t be a 3…which he has subsequently posted more frequently and announced cji 3 and put out a sham octopus guard instructional made of material he’s already put other places.
According to everyone that was there, he was so high on the nights of cji 2 he couldn’t function. He begged John to do cji 2 pretending to be his friend, and has since called John a sexual abuse enabler because he threw Izaak out of the gym when they found out he was wanted (according to Craig he was supposed to have told him he was allowed to train and then had the cops waiting for him in the gym.)
Just a few of the things out there that might indicate where he is mentally and where his relationships are.

CJ2 seemed to be a mess and he crashed out hard. … disagree with him having a responsibility to carry Chael to a longer match though. For $100k Chael had a responsibility to not dive straight into one of Craig’s signature moves … twice in a row.

Chael was there as a favor to Craig after Gable pulled out because he booked an MMA fight. It wasn’t supposed to be a serious match, it was supposed to be a pro wrestling match like Craig’s match with Gaby at cji 1 was. He got so wasted he decided Chael had slighted him so instead he put him to sleep as quickly and disrespectfully as possible.
Honestly, this is the first time I’ve even thought, ‘should he have carried Chael to a long match?’
I consider Chael to be way above Gabi who he obviously carried. They looked like they were having a good time, Craig was laughing when Chael did his schtick saying he thought it was best of 3 and they restarted and went again.

It wasn’t supposed to be a real grappling match. Chael was there as entertainment, not as a grappling competitor. The same way Gaby was. Those were both pro wrestling matches. Chael asked for 2 out of 3 humorously to try to save it (because he fucking loves “the business” and all the other gay pro wrestling terms) since Craig had decided to embarrass him in 30 seconds which Chael knew made for a bad main event for the crowd.
I believe the wrasslin’ fans call that a double cross…same thing he did to John… I enjoyed my time training with Craig, but he’s off the fucking rails and alienating everyone around him. He should get out of the sport and take all his faggot ass social justice warrior fans from reddit who want to watch pro grappling with him.
CJI 2 was a horrible format that everyone with a brain knew was going to lead to boring matches, because he made the ruleset where finishes were the least likely to happen. Then when the first night was boring he went on the internet to yell at the competitors that he claimed he was poaching from other organizations so he could treat them with respect. I can tell you I’ve never seen Tachnoon on a bender telling people they are destroying the sport by trying to win matches in the rule set he provided. He’s a disgrace.
Yeah as soon as the format was announced I wondered why they’d do that shit.

To be honest, at this point, I hope there isn’t a next one and we can just see the best people in the world at ADCC this year. No one from New Wave/Kingsway would compete at CJI again because of Craig attacking John, and they shouldn’t. Jay wouldn’t do CJI either.
Right now the only announced match is Craig vs Dillon Danis which is a complete meme match. Hopefully he doesn’t schedule it to compete with ADCC again. The world deserves to see Nicky Rod challenge Kaynan for that 99 title.

I don’t know about John’s guys. They were wrong about the scoring thing but they felt cheated by it. And the donor shouldn’t have said he was going to pay them and indian given it.
