The thought of a commie dalai lama is funny
holy shit my wise ass just got served an amazing wocka!!! 4.89 Wockas well frickin played sir!
Not sure what you disagree with, but I agree that putting people on pedestals will always disappoint you.
I find the reincarnation part super interesting. In a couple of years we’ll have an exile-Tibetan task force interviewing kids if they recognize these old robes they wore in their previous life. Meanwhile, you’ll have atheist Communists claiming they understand Buddhist reincarnation much better and they got the right, fully approved and quality double checked, kid. Then we’ll have the Good Buddha fight the Dark Buddha for supremacy.
I’ll choose one point to discuss, is reincarnation interesting as in real? I understand many religions believe in it but there isn’t any real evidence. And I’m not picking on Buddhism, I also have issues with alot of other religions.
Buddhism is more of a philosophy. It was turned into a religion later on by other people. Anyone can practice, the instructions are pretty simple. No need to give your money to some brick and mortar place that doesn’t pay taxes.
So what is the deal with the Dalai Lama?
Is he like an oriental pope?
So much hype around this dude and for what?
Op wants to suck on the dalai lama’s tongue
I bet he does.
Because he ran away from Tibet when the Chinese invaded and you know how westerners LOVE oppressed minorities. His sect, Vajrayana was made up about a thousand years after Buddha died.
One thing I did like about Chogyam Trungpa was how he didn’t bother with the robes and flashy shit because he knew how materialistic westerners were and how they’d be blinded by all that stuff and miss the point.
In this case I’m more interested in how two competing Dalai Lamas will play out in international politics.
As for reincarnation, I’m agnostic. The more I listen to quantum physics the less I understand about our reality. You can’t really say there’s no evidence as there’s been plenty of witness accounts of previous lives and kids recounting details of different times/places they should have no knowledge about. Just because we can’t explain something today doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist nor that it doesn’t follow laws of physics. Physics today can’t explain consciousness.
He’s basically the pope of Tibetan Buddhism, which is the smallest branch of Buddhism.
He’s got a captivating life story, he’s considered the 14th reincarnation of the same person and in a violent world he’s been a consistent advocate of non-violence throughout his life.
