They should just switch their content to subscription… Do 4 massive PPVs a year (3 title fights each + popular fighters) and charge for those. Then do some netflix, amazon streaming deals and maybe some cable deals on a major network… those should all be about recruiting viewers though not monetization (although there will be some of that).
They should also need to build regional content but thats a different conversation.
Id pay $20 a month for subscription with 4 events a month (1 title fight) and still pay out maybe 60-80 for a quarterly PPV.
Thats about my limit though. Any more and im just going to a bar to watch because its cheaper.
He is not some savvy businessman making strategic pivots along the way. He’s trying to make slap fight popular. What a joke and an idiot.
The sport hasn’t grown in more than 5 years and reached stagnation. Haven’t done the research but I’m sure the ppv buy rates have been trending down.
There are plenty of things the ufc could do to generate interest
bring back pridefc and house all of the international talent who are unmarketable (can’t speak English)
Have a ufc (North American fighters) vs pridefc (international fighters) tournament card
Unification title belts and Grand Prix tournaments with ufc representation
Pridefc rules, spice it up
These 2 organizations should be coexisting under the same ownership yet competing against each other. Exciting fighters on a downward spiral with name recognition can switch between organizations.
So much potential and possibilities yet we have fucken SLAP fight championships. DW is a joke
Pride built stars UFC builds the UFC brand. I’m really surprised Dana hasn’t learned how to generate more interest from watching how WWE builds their stars. Imagine WWE wrestlers all coming out, wearing the same generic gear.
As an “entertainment” company with scripted content the wwe own all the trademarks and “identities” of their wrestlers.
The UFC can’t do that if they could they would. The Ali act is already breathing down their necks. That’s why they build the UFC brand and not the fighters.
I pay for some app my buddy told me about that gets like all these global channels, UFC is on there as well. Think it was like 140 or 160 for the year.
Thing is with our legal system they can sue you and you will spend a small fortune defending yourself. It’s shitty but if a big company wants to ruin you they can easily do it with frivolous lawsuits
