Raul Rosas Jr. is getting a sizable step up in competition.

The former Contender Series winner is set to face Rob Font at the upcoming Noche UFC 3 card scheduled on Sept. 13 in San Antonio.

UFC officials announced the pairing on Wednesday.

After debuting as a teenager in his octagon debut, Rosas has posted a 5-1 record overall, including a current four-fight win streak. His lone blemish came in his second UFC appearance after falling to Christian Rodriguez but Rosas quickly bounced back with his next four wins in a row.

Following a victory over Vince Morales back in March. Rosas called for a ranked opponent with hopes that he could begin his climb towards title contention. Now he’ll get his wish against a veteran like Font, who has competed inside the top 15 rankings for most of his UFC career.

Font comes into the fight off back-to-back wins over Jean Matsumoto and Kyler Phillips with a ton of experience on his resume. During his UFC career, Font has faced three former UFC champions and a long list of top contenders but now he’ll take on a rising star in Rosas when they clash in September.

The upcoming Noche UFC 3 card is headlined by a featherweight fight between one-time title challenger Diego Lopes when he faces Jean Silva in a five-round fight.

Rob Font has a new opponent after Raul Rosas Jr. was forced to withdraw.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that Font and David Martinez have agreed to a matchup at Noche UFC 3 on Sept. 13 at Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. MMA Junkie first reported the booking.

MMA Fighting confirmed that Rosas Jr. exited the biggest bout of his young career earlier in the week due to undisclosed reasons. Font was hopeful to remain on the card, and he gets his wish, as the Massachusetts fighter looks to extend his current win streak to three fights. The No. 13-ranked bantamweight in MMA Fighting’s Global Rankings picked up upset decision wins over Kyler Phillips and Jean Matsumoto in this past two outing

Yup. Only 97 percent here speak Spanish, versus 99 percent in Mexico.

The card kind of sucks but I am benefitting from two lucky breaks.

  1. The card got moved to where I live (yes I live in the frost bank center)
  2. My buddy’s friend was supposed to go with him but has had some sort of emergency and can’t go, and I’m getting his ticket

It’s my first UFC event and honestly, with ticket prices, I thought I would probably never attend one. I’ve been to a few LFA, a Fury FC, and several smaller shows here in town. I’m looking forward to it.

War lord silva!!!

Punch Lopes right in his itchy throat!!

I like both Lopes and Silva. Jean gets me a little more excited for the future of the division but it should be a great fight.
