Took my 16yr old to his first death metal show earlier this year. Blood Incantation, Immolation and Obituary. We were stage front for Immolation and Obituary.

2 years ago but it didn’t take. He liked maiden, megadeth and thrash stuff but nothing heavier. Took him to first ever concert Maiden (mine was Texas jam in 1984, I was 10) and he loved it.

Started to ease into heavier stuff and when he heard Redneck Stomp it grabbed his attention. The show with Obit got him even more interested having seen it live. Earlier this year we saw Frozen Soul, Obituary, Corpse and Amon Amarth on his last day of school.

He wears mostly concert shirts like I did at his age (and older). It’s fun taking him to see new bands and watch his reaction.
