Word is, it started off as consensual, then went south when he got a teammate to join in and used foreign objects to penetrate the girl.

I’ve said it before, this is how it usually seems to go. Things start off consensual, then things start to turn rough, the girl gets physically hurt, foreign objects are used that aren’t consented to, guy gets his friends to join in, etc
 so while the initial act of having sex was agreed to by both parties, what happened during and afterwards wasn’t.

I dont reemember the specifics. I think it was somethint related to the girl being inebriated so they werent allowed to bring charges. There was a few years where there was an unintended gap in the law for whatever reason
