It was a big deal in the wrestling community. Part of it was because of the fallout from the J. Robinson thing that had happened a few years prior. U Minnesota didnāt need any more bad publicity because of that, and Steveson was a huge get for them in recruiting. So when this happened, there was a lot of speculation on what would happen. Generally in schools known for wrestling, like Minnesota or Iowa or Penn State, when one of the well known wrestlers does something stupid publicly, people know about it. Like when Andrew Long raped somebody and had to transfer, Penn State picked him up. Then he caused more problems and ended up at an NAIA program the year after and did something else awful there. Steveson being involved in something like this was bad news.
