It’s insane how bad their commentary is. I think Rogan and DC are way worse than Anik. It really seems like they chose the most annoying people in the company and hand them a mic.

He fought like Cain Velasquez in his previous fight (mixing wrestling and striking to perfection + ridiculous pace). If he’s smart it’ll be right back to that vs Lewis.
Probably decided that it would be a tall order to wrestle Blaydes, who had 30 lbs on him and is a wrestler himself.

He did a great job. I found his antics before the fight annoying as fuck (obviously intentional to get views) but he backed it up and performed.
He might have made a rod for his back with both his personality and fighting style though. People will hate it if in future he decides to fight technically or grappling heavy. A Cain Velasquez style would work, although I’m not sure if his cardio is as good of Cain’s. He blitzed the first half of the rounds, but often had to take the second half off to recover.

He has done that, yet he was still going for the finish. Fans LIKED Chimaev when he was in smesh mode. Wrestling and grappling are not disliked by most fans. But fence stalls and lay’n’pray fucking sucks. It always has, always will. If he takes down Lewis and pounds him out to a TKO, nobody will cry about it but the dumbest of fans. If he juts hold him down to a JD, then yes.

Lewis is a tough matchup for a guy who doesn’t move his head though. Assuming Lewis can still “just stand up” whenever taken down.
