A tidy sum!

I don’t wish to specify, but for teh time bean I am alright. The point I was trying to make is, I had put this cheddar aside for emergencies alike!

Felt bad touching it since I’ve rinsed out my regular account being umeplyed like!

From age 19 to early 30’s I worked long crazy hours without living! I did a lot of over time back then. Sorta quit having a social life before I had one.

Basic line it that you have a savings of 7 months your monthly paycheck.
At 37 a little bit more.

At least u acknowledge your shortcomings. The question is ā€œare u doing something about it? Or u dont care?ā€
The issue I have is the ones that don’t acknowledge their poor life.decisions and also blame govt, the ā€œmanā€, greedy businesses, the rich, etc etc for their life circumstances.

Who knows lol…

So many paper millionaires in lots of Western developed countries at that age because of the housing boom but none of that was intentional.

If you got a few hundred k liquid you’re probably doing okay. Id probably accelerate the saving even at this level though.

If you have less than 100k id go very aggressive… Like saving 50%+ of your net (earn more money if you cant do this) at this age.

If you got like a million+ liquid outside of your home just keep doing what youre doing.

My friend is 43, drives a truck and now a tour bus, has a free house that was given to him, doesn’t even pay insurance on it. Doesn’t have a vehicle newer than a 2007, but it’s blown up. Couldn’t put his hands on $1000 at any given moment. His wife blows money galore, they are both high 200lbs and he’s wasting money on her doing this powerlifting bullshit. Even before her, he could never save anything. I had an under the table part time job for years and had to loan him money all the time while
He still lived at home.

He FREAKED out when he got a loan to finance a used side by side and they didn’t put the sales tax in the loan. His credit is not good at all.

My cousin is similar, 37, several kids, no money. If he had $2000 right now, he would spend it without a second thought. Also has a paid for place (owner financed a house for 25k through his dad, sold it for 50k to get the place he’s in now) despite having no payments, can’t come up with $1200 to fix his teeth (brass knuckle sucker punch years ago) that causes him constant agony. He can do anything too, build houses, body work, mechanical repair, build decks, you name it, but has zero understanding of basic math, saving, or business. Zero.

I am baffled how anybody can live like this, and both will not listen to you even a little bit about saving money. They think it’s all magic.

It’s actually infuriating hearing either say they have no money all the time.
