I Quit Drinking 16 Months Ago

I decided I needed to quit drinking for a year cause I was getting sharp pains in my right side everytime I drank. After a year I drank once and just felt shitty and hungover the next day and it wasnt that fun so i decided to continue not drinking. Been another 4 months.

So tecnically not 16 months but that sounds better. So uh anyone have questions? I know a lot of you are alcoholics and I am here now to help you. No one should drink, its not that good for you imo.

I went into detox Dec 18th and 4 days later into rehab for just shy of 90 days.

No booze since Dec 18th

First you claim you’re not into underage girls and am some pedo hunter in real life, but just came across as a frightened tryhard

Now you’re too weak to drink

You completely lost your edge and i wish you stayed dead

Worst comeback ever

I’ve stopped drinking Monday through Thursday. Have wound it right back on Sundays also.

I definitely feel better for it…Getting to bed earlier, not eating shit food later in the evening etc.

Congrats, OP, that’s incredible.

I allow myself 1 day a week to drink, usually Friday, but change to Saturday during hockey/NCAA football season.

Zero beers on what I call “school nights”.

Too old (42), can’t function at work even slightly hung over anymore.

Right on bro, I think youll find the less you drink the better you feel. And if you have to drink to enjoy something its probably not that worthwhile anyways.

I’ve been on the wagon for over 20 years.

Much better way to live life, maybe more boring, but better.

But i was a bad drunk, props to you guys that can handle it.

Amazing work mate. Recognising something and then having the willpower to do something about it is huge.

My issue is that 1 drink becomes 2, then that becomes 10. There’s no off switch once I start. I can take that break during the week, but if I was to open a bottle of wine tonight, I’d drink that, then be rummaging through the liquor cabinet for more.

I’ve been feeling a lot of guilt about drinking for awhile…
I would love to quit, and see the benefits of leaving that shit behind.
I heard someone say
“I don’t know anyone whose life didn’t get better by quitting drinking “…
And I’d like to see how that works in my small little world.

I take 3-6 months off every year. Stopped from February to June this year.

It’s good to reset, but full on sobriety is like being a Jehovah’s Witness, you just gotta preach about it to everyone else.

Take breaks, get healthy, and drink with your friends. Don’t be the NA beer fag we all hate.

No alcoholic drinks in 9-10 weeks here. I like it a lot when I’m awake, but it was affecting my sleep too much to be enjoyable. Panic attacks, cold sweats, neck hurting from laying in cold soaked pillow, waking up with no energy and the only solution in the morning is to have a drink, leading to extended benders. Had a good run, but I don’t miss it.
