Is the figure 4 a legit sub?

I stand corrected.

That submission is too rich for my blood.

I had just gone out for the wrestling team in high school ( 10th grade) after football season. I had a sold 4 years of weight training and would rassle with neighborhood kids without knowing anything about real wrestling. I was quite familiar with Mid South , Georgia championship wrestling and the old WWF from early 80s. Football coaches deterred us from wrestling so I would lift and then head to wrestling until I made my decision on committing to wrestling or not.

By the time I would get there it would be just in time for live wrestling and conditioning so I didn’t know any moves or rules except for you can’t punch or kick …I am wresting this kid and have him on his back and I have one leg under each arm so I step over into a Boston crab . I was all proud of myself since it didn’t go against any of the things I knew were illegal. The poor kid was screaming in pain and my coach ran over there and thought I was nuts. He gave me a copy of the rule book and said don’t come back until I read it.

i used to be able to occasionally hit spinning from the opponent’s guard into a boston crab

only ever worked once on anybody, though

It’s like a retarded reverse leg trap saddle. What a strange position. I’ve never seen this before.

I always thought figure four was just another name for toe holds.

My little neighbors didn’t like it…lol

MMA has kind of regressed in skill (with a few notable exceptions).
We don’t see any masters of their respective disciplines anymore.
Now everyone is a kickboxer (and not a good one) and the only sub that seems to hit is an RNC
Styles make matchups right? Well now the majority of mma fighters have the exact same style.

I caught someone in the rings of saturn one time in practice :man_shrugging:
That was pretty cool. I didn’t crank on it like that tho.

Dont tell Vegito, he will swear up and down the UFC is peak talent levels now.

But I agree with you completely. Despite the UFC announcers (mostly Rogan and Anik) gaslighting us into thinking MMA is a much higher level than ever before
