I actually always thought Raiders was a bit dull and slow for whatās essentially a kids flick. Temple Of Doom is just dumb enjoyable fun a bit like the Return Of The Jedi of the franchise. Last Crusade is the best by a mile. Iāve never bothered with the recent stuff.
On the whole. Overrated franchise that has its moments. When you compare it to top level family action flicks like Ghostbusters & Goonies, they donāt really come close
3⦠The first one and third are definitely the best, and thereās arguments to be made as to which one is the best. But even while it doesnāt compare to those two, āTemple of Doomā is solid. Iāll watch it if I come across it, but while I will occasionally active look to watch āArkā and āLast Crusadeā, I canāt say the same of āTemple of Doomā.
The only redeeming element of āCrystal Skullā is Marion. I refuse to watch the latest one.
Bethesda soft works made an Indiana jones game that is supposed to be great, very movie like. I couldnāt get into it, really because the Indy characters are so fucking corny.
Played rose of the tomb raider instead- that game does EVERYTHING and Indy game should have done. Mind you, rise of tomb raider is like 15 years old. Blows away most games out there, but scratches that Indiana jones bug.
Idc what anyone says. Kingdom was a great movie. It had the spirit of an Indy film which is what the newest film was lacking. I didnāt see it but I read the plot and ending it sounded like a miserable mess
I wore out the Indiana Jones trilogy as a kid. My mom got me all three VHS tapes for Christmas from McDonalds as part of a happy meal promotion they had.
I refuse to acknowledge the existence of Crystal skull.
I love the new Tomb Raider games, but theyāre very different from what Indiana Jones tries to be⦠The Indy franchise at its best, is a throwback to 1930ās adventure serials/films with all their cheese. People sometime criticize the Indy movies for their inherent cringe, but what they miss is those moments (strictly talking about the original trilogy here) are intentional and add to the movieās charm. The new Tomb Raider games by contrast are really gritty survival games at heart. The two franchises really arenāt comparable.
Honestly, what really hurts āTemple of Doomā is the girl⦠She was useless and annoying. I get sheās a throwback to the 1930ās ādamsel in distressā character, but especially after Marion who was very capable but still feminine, she was obnoxious.
Thatās why they added Short-Round as the super capable sidekick. I feel Temple of Doom was very much meant to be as Bond-like as possible. So they put the hot girl/damsel in distress in there.
I always had these up there with the Star Wars Trilogy, but I was surprised after rewatching them last year that they donāt hold up too well.
Raiders is the classic, but itās definitely aged at this point. Iām not sure if a younger person would even understand its hype.
Temple of Doom was my favorite as a kid, but itās really weird a goofy to watch as an adult. Its tone just isnāt consistent with the other 2. It throws the series off big time.
I remember thinking The Last Crusade was boring as a kid, but thatās the one that probably holds up the best. Itās solid.
