Jones Announces He has Re-Entered UFC Testing Pool

Jon seems to be a total shithead but he’s also a little slippery. He can afford good lawyers, he finds ways to wriggle out of a lot of terrible things. But even if (maybe when) his luck runs out, I doubt he’d stop owning guns or doing whatever he feels like, including posting with guns.

Not the balls. The groin. Gus wasn’t able to move right after that shot. Maybe I bought into his using that as an excuse. But it sure made a lot of sense with how he was moving afterwards.

That is 100% on brand for Jones to post pics of him with guns even as a felon.
The sooner he fades to obscurity the better.
We need him to take all the drugs and drink all the liquor and go make some bad decisions that don’t get others hurt.

This. Is there any chance the UFC can ever get to a point where all the top fighters are stable professionals? And the cards are consistently the fights that SHOULD be happening?

Fuck off

No.

To be fair when has that ever happened anywhere?

There are fights from every era that should have happened but didn’t for one reason or another. That includes Pride, and boxing too.

A GP format could solve a lot of that.
Not one day tournaments though. But tournament brackets that extend over the course of several months.
Problem with that is, even with breaks between fights, someone will usually get injured.

It’s funny when you look at how long fighters get to prepare and have a camp for a specific opponent these days – then compare it to how active many fighters were when the sport was more brutal and there were less rules.

Maybe MMA could have a “season”.

But then they would lose their year-round PPV revenue.

IDK…

you dont need to know anything

the model works

ffs , the last fight was literally Charles Oliveira vs Ilia Topuria , the best fight to make after the champ moved to 170

wtf are you guys complainin about?

lets not be results oriented, regardless of how fast that ended it was an absolute dream match to make

They should bring back tournaments.

If the UFC did that, I can almost guarantee it would create a boom of interest, even if temporary.

They managed to pull it off back in the day with less rules, less weight classes, and less modern sports medicine.

Yeah there were disappointments, and fighters had to pull out at times.
But there were also some of the most exciting and anticipated matchups in MMA history.

MMA sucks now compared to what it used to be.
They need to change it up.

No way, everyone is better trained there is absolutely no comparison if you actually understood what you were talking about

Was it more freakshow? yes

But never better

p.s. also this PFL Europe card has been quite fantastic, all you real MMA fans wouldnt know because you were probably too busy complaining about UFC because its all you will ever know

Pride era Fedor would beat anyone today.
So would a bunch of historic HWs.

I hate to be a snob…

But saying that to me is fucking hilarious.

Good grief.

I’m ok with injury pull outs thats part and parcel of the sport.

the “make weight” got pretty bad for a while, still happening more than it should.

its the rest:
wont fight a teammate
wont fight a former teammate
wont fight during Ramadan
want 6 month camps
want huge payday
want cherry pick opponent

That fight deserved an immediate rematch

Jon said the fight wasn’t close soon after he healed up, he said no rematch needed. The rematch happened 5 years later.

Jon did win the second one but he kicked Alex in the groin 60 seconds in and injured Gus’s Groin, Gus pushed thru but was obviously compromised and eventually the injury prevented him from getting up and grappling so he covered up and TKO finish in round 3 or 4 or whatever

So yes Jon did Duck Gus for 5 years

Match him up with Conor and let them waste each other’s time.
