Jones has the greatest fight IQ

I think Jones is ONE OF the greatest MMA fighters of all time. But because he cheated with fingers in his opponents eyes whenever in trouble we will never know how good he actually could have been.

He likely could have been clipped and taken L’s in his career without being allowed to do that.

And for that reason he is like Khabib, a what could have been.

Dirtiest fighter ever. also one of the smartest. And a real piece of shit in the cage.

Almost all of those were former 205lb champions

In that case, I once again extend my challenge to face you in a regulated mma bout. But it sounds like you are scared.

You know how when you watch a fight you armchair coach the hell out of a fight and scream at the TV telling whichever fighter that he should be doing this or that?

Jones actually ends up doing everything you think he should be doing!

Well youre gonna have to cut to 125 if you want to tangle with me. Are you willing to make 125 or are you scared?

Like he’s being controlled by a good video game player.
Except the game is GTA because he then goes out, does coke, crashes cars and does stealth missions hiding from drug testers.

Its almost like hes smart enough to have the longest reach in lhw history.

I can’t imagine anyone beating Jones, but I don’t follow MMA like I used to and I don’t know much about Aspinall except that he’s the guy that almost everyone thinks poses the greatest challenge to Jones.

I need to learn more about Aspinall.

He’s freakishly strong too. Ignoring his skills for a second and just looking at his attributes.

The thing I’ve appreciated when he first went on his first tear in the UFC was no matter the opponent he fought their style and beat them. In a sport where most people try to impose their style on the opponent and shut down their game, Jones would meet anyone he fought with their own strength and out do them. That always impressed me. Very rare to see, especially back then.

I wonder how he would do if you just dropped him in with somebody randomly, no crazy game planning for 6 months.

I think a lot of top fighters would get shuffled around if they weren’t allowed to watch video and game plan for long periods of time.

GSP would have been another one that potentially falls off hard.

This is an interesting hypothetical. The counter of course is opponents would also have no idea who they were fighting and would not be able to game plan against these guys. Some of the “better” performances against both Jones and GSP were certainly due to a lot of tape watching along with specific strategies developed by multiple coaches.

I laughed.

That’s the point though, how much does it affect some fighters vs others.

Wanderlei Silva would be a nightmare in these scenarios, so would Shogun. Pretty much anybody who fought more than once in a night would be

i wonder how much of his fight IQ is coaching

His number one advantage is his reach. He was face palming Stipe keeping that distance. Nobody else has those freak arms so it’s a genetic advantage.
