That thumbnail looks like Micheal Rooker impregnated Mel Gibson.
That was the point l
No one won that fight (Royce v Ken 2). Ken literally landed one decent punch and played defense the whole fight. One of the worst fights in UFC history. Terrible to watch.
The regulation was boring.
The overtime Ken landed that punch and was working Royce from high in the guard, grinding, and landing short punches and even a couple headbutts.
By that time Royce had nothing for Ken. No response. His only escape was time running out. And the only way Ken didn’t win a unanimous decision was the lack of judges.
After the fight Royce looked spent and Ken looked like he could go for another hour.
Up until that point Royce had submitted everyone in his path, including Ken.
Boring, sure. But also a very significant fight in MMA history. A shift from the initial dominance of GJJ.
“pioneer who gave everything for a sport that forgot his name when he needed it most”
Why do we “owe” or why does the industry “owe” an athlete anything? They came in for a paycheque. They said what they said to media either under the direction of the company or said things to proliferate the sport because it helped their career. I work at a bank. I gave everything for the financial industry that will forget my name when I needed it most. Silly.
underpaid is news to me. I tried to do a few deals with him and he was so high on what he wanted there was zero roi possible for me to partner with him on anything.
he def got paid top dollar from the ufc and wwe. had he bought apple stock and property he would be worth 100m now. no one else’s fault he partied it away and wasted it.
Ken was the one that wanted to trade knees. If Royce too one to the balls he would have done the same thing
It’s 100% Dana’s fault imo
Still an illegal strike.
He played the game and lost. My opinion of Shammy has softened over the years but he sort of fucked his own life up imo
Played the game of throwing legal strikes and getting hit with an illegal one?
I recommend this book. Ken lived it up for years.
RIP KIMO!
I always found it funny that Frank and Ken looked similar enough to be brothers. I didn’t know until Frank started coming in all feather engined up raindancing into the ring that they were both separately adopted.
When you get into the double plum and trade knees someone is getting knees in the balls. Was a stupid plan imo.
I down for Ken vs Royce 4
I don’t know..
Ken has always been super strong in the clinch. It’s an underrated part of his game because he wasn’t very aggressive in it. But it’s a place where he was always comfortable even with bigger guys, and that didn’t go away even after he was older and less mobile.
I think he might have over sold it a little looking for a timeout. But it’s not something I feel like rewatching to make an argument out of it lol.
