Khamzat could be heavyweight champ

Screw 205, that division is weaker than 185 anyway. A dead division.

Khamzat would destroy Aspinall or Gane all the same. There’s maybe be a 20lb weight discrepancy that’s nothing at heavyweight.

Just let him fight the winner of Ank and Poatan and then let him walk right into a HW title shot.

Hazmat could have been the 170 champ if he asnt retarded. 205 wouldnt be out of the question if he chose his opponents wisely.

How do you see him doing against Magomed? Just another takedown clinic?

Yes. He’s less athletic than Dricus and probably only a few pounds heavier in the cage. (Than Dricus)

Ankalaev is a heavier Dagestan wrestler and Sambo champion. Khamzat isn’t going to be able to just pin him in side control and sit in crucifix.

He probably would be able to do it to Pereira though.

I’d favour him over Poatan, not Ank, Tom or Jon though.

The present hw division is arguably the weakest division of all time.

It is pretty poor but if we are talking the UFC specifically (ie not Pride) the entire 90s and even most of the 00s were worse for HW than the current division.

It feels like HW being weak is the norm rather than the exception unfortunately.

yay… lets have a allah akbar chechan wet blanket opponents at HW…
That fight was not a fight… it was a skilled ass sniffer neutralising opponents skillset.
Yes it was impressive, No it was not entertaining…
Ref should have stood them up 3 more times than i saw

I agree. This feels like an exceptionally dark period though.

I think a lot of it is also a lack of star power or anything particularly compelling happening. If Ngannou and Jon had stuck around, fought each other, fought Tom etc things could have been different.

Lol yes HW is so weak thats why 80% of natural HWs cut to 205 and 185…

I dont think that in itself means 205 and 185 are weaker. I mean 2 of the last 5 HW champs have been guys that had just come up from LHW. Dont forget Randy winning the title when he had just failed to win the LHW title in his previous fight too.

At the end of the day though, you can be a 230lb LHW sized guy and if you’re fighting at HW routinely find yourself up against guys 20+lbs heavier than you. These days even more so than back in the day guys are going to get every advantage they can including cutting like crazy.

Anyway, LHW is in a bad state too, not sure its even any better than HW currently.

That doesn’t line up though.. If its advantageous to cut then it has to be a weaker division (or the perception among fighters is that it is).

MW and LHW don’t exist if HW is weak.

Its advantageous to cut so you arent giving up significant size and strength advantages vs your opponents. Thats different to skills and athleticism.

Hahahahaha,

HW is so weak.. Let me cut 35 lbs to avoid this Weak division so i can fight harder guys!

HW is the hardest division. Guys are killing themselves to avoid it.

You mean any HW from any era can drop bombs on you and destroy you, if you can avoid this by being a lighter weight, why wouldn’t you?

HW is not hard, in the way you are phrasing it,

HW is still dogs ass with a very low level of skill, especially now

There aren’t anymore super well rounded monsters like Ubereem or technical striking geniuses like Arlovski .. if UFc didn’t wreck MMA, new phenoms like them should still be coming through, but the pay is still dogshit and there are better sports for big athletic freaks … shit Arlovski still fighting and winning in 2025 ffs lol

HW is 206-265lbs, a much bigger range than any other weight class and even then there are fighters cutting to make the 265 limit. Yeah no shit there are guys at the lower end of that range cutting to make LHW instead.
