My son took a bad shot and was caught in a head/arm followed by a gator roll. His opponent got top position and used it to crank a mounted guillotine. My son was bridging not to get pinned while the wrestler kept the guillotine on. My son went limp while the ref called the pin. I ran on the mat and lost my shit.
I typically hate when dads do this but it was tough seeing my kid go limp as the ref didn’t even call a potentially dangerous move.
He is embarrassed as he went limp in front of a gym of people. It looked like when Merab got put to sleep in one of his earlier UFC fights. The ref kept looking at my sons right shoulder as he bridged ignoring the choke.
His right arm was stuck in the mounted guillotine his left arm was on the mat as he was mounted. If this was jiu jitsu I wouldn’t have an issue with it as he would know to tap. In wrestling pressure on the carotids leads to a stoppage by the ref. I am more agitated that the ref was ignored the choke and just focused on if his shoulder was down.
Ah. Yeah. Red should have been more aware. HS age and up, the Officials become a bit more liberal with what they allow, but little kids need to be protected in that situation. Too easy to choke someone out from there.

Yes, I am beyond pissed about it and to make matters worse he called the pin for the kid adding insult to injury. To be honest, the kid was a better wrestler than my son anyway and more than likely would have pinned him. My issue is that my kid got put to sleep because the ref had a major fuck up and when confronted had the nerve to tell me he didn’t see it.
My son is the PA state freestyle and Greco champ with only 2 years training. He has about 125 matches this year and has won close to 90% of them. He already is training with high school 107-127lbs’ers while turning 12 over the summer.
He was bridging to get out of the hold but the pressure was too much. My issue is that he is 12 years old and the ref completely fucked up.
That same kid put another kid in that same position and to your point the other kid who was also very talented immediately went flat to give up the pin. My son went out fighting it but seeing him go limp like that definitely brought up an inner rage that I haven’t had in some time.
