I definitely get your point, but I think they were trying to compare his two dads, Russell Crowe with Kevin Costner.
Crowe knew his son was bound for greatness and wanted him to be at the forefront, leading the charge. Costner just wanted to protect him and didn’t want him to be forced into being anything he didn’t want to be.

Cavill was a great Superman, but shit Clark Kent. Reeves made you believe he was a bumbling idiot when he was Kent, and even Routh nailed the dorky mannerisms.
The 2 worst Kent’s I’ve seen were Dean Cain and Cavill becuase they were still Joe Cool no matter the outfit.
