Merab Agrees to O’Malley Rematch at 309

Sean O’Malley insists he was victorious at UFC 306.

In fact, the Suga State Athletic Commission overturned the judges’ decision and declared O’Malley the UFC bantamweight champion. Now, Merab Dvalishvili is willing to put an end to all the controversy and rematch O’Malley at the upcoming UFC 309 pay-per-view (PPV) event on Nov. 16 inside Madison Square Garden in New York City.
“I hear O’Malley thinks he won the fight and is looking for a rematch,” Dvalishvili wrote on Twitter. “If he wants it he can have it. Let’s do it November 16th at the Garden and then I’ll still defend the title against whoever the UFC wants me to fight next. What do you think?”

Not surprisingly, fans on social media were critical of Dvalishvili (18-4) for trying to avoid a potential title defense against No. 2-ranked bantamweight contender Umar Nurmagomedov, who was unimpressed by the UFC 306 headliner. The 28 year-old Nurmagomedov is undefeated at 18-0 with nine finishes.
O’Malley is expected to take an extended leave of absence following his Dvalishvili loss, partly to address injuries suffered in his UFC 306 training camp. In addition, UFC 309 already has its main and co-main event matchups, so there’s little reason to shoehorn a hastily-assembled title fight into the Nov. 16 lineup.

Nurmagomedov was quick to respond.

Easy money. O’Malley will get wrestle fucked again

O’malley should take a year and wrestle if he wants to see that belt again.

Fuck off with this stupid shit.

Enough with idiotic rematches for every single belt.

Nobody needs to see that shit again immediately.

This is a gift for Merab, an easier and higher paying fight than Umar!

Merab is ducking Umar.

Like how darren till did with khamzat!

Really improved his mma game.

No, I’d probably use some other people who developed defensive wrestling skills through their career and not a dude who lost his confidence and skills overnight.

Egg is hoping O’Malley catches him this time

This. The current champion lineup is the worst I’ve seen in the modern era. Alex Pereira is the only star besides Jones who has one fight left in the UFC.

Totally this.

Dana is just phoning it in now.

I thought Cuck O’Malley needed surgery?

I’m sick of seeing the same two dudes rematch each other nonstop at the top of every division. Defend the belt or lose and be forced to make another run.

Sean got dominated. Absolutely no point in a rematch, especially when Merab/Umar is one of the most interesting and high level fights that could be made right now.

This^

It was one-sided.

Unnecessary fight.

Like his loss that he was able to reverse his injury result will also be reversed by wigger Jesus

I hate how ppl are assuming Umar is next in line.
He’s not, (imo)

I believe this next matchup is for No1 contentership

(Yan doesn’t deserve it either)

Umar probably wont get the next shot, but its the fight to make, stylistically. I think Merab dominates Figgy (who probably loses to Yan anyway) and obviously Yan/Merab already happened.

Umar probably has the ability to neutralise Merabs wrestling threat, presents more of a striking threat and is the bigger, younger man. Its a very tough test for Merab.

Does Umar fight or can he keep up with Merab’s pace though? One thing is for sure, he has the best coach/team to prepare for a guy like Merab.
