I wondered the same thing, so I googled.
I like listening to him talk.
The Geriatric Fighting League is insane for matching these guys up.
I agree. He’s actually a fantastic analyst and he’s got a pretty brilliant mind when it comes to martial arts and fighting. I think it’s possible he’s just not the most tuned in to social niceties or, probably doesn’t care that much about them.
Back injuries r terrible…all the best frank
I agree on all counts. I just don’t think he cares much for coming off nice or what people perceive to be “PC”. I actually would love to hear more people talk the way he does and it’s part of the reason I’m such a big fan.
Dude is smart as fuck when he talks about fighting. I’m not sure where some of the hate comes from that I’m seeing
I don’t know, maybe it’s his confidence or like Buddie said, the way he doesn’t seem to care about social expectations when it comes to having a conversation. But he never comes off rude or disrespectful, only honest and passionate to me. People aren’t used to that nowadays. I love hearing him talk fight philosophy and could listen to him all day. He is honestly a genius in terms of combat. He should really write a book if he hasn’t already.
I think its for everybody doing so many years of intensive BJJ.
I think this comeback is a case of Mir missing the “highs” of competition or that he signed with the GFL for their “health and injury insurance” (if it applies.)
Yeah man. I have all the respect in the world for his accomplishments and his knowledge of bjj and fighting. I like how he cuts through the bullshit and doesn’t have time for nonsense. But I can see why lots of people don’t like him as he can come off as dismissive of dissenting opinions.
That being said, one of my favorite Mir moments was when a fan asked him at a WEC event how Miguel Torres ever made weight with Mir hanging off his nuts. He sputtered some kind of comeback but it was a good burn lol.
100 percent agreed, didn’t know about about the Torres thing lol
