Watched the Ruas vs Maurice smith fight last night.. the first time they fought in the duc - not a good look for Ruas. Truly seems like since everything he tried in round 1 was defended well by Smith that he decided to bow out of the fight. Marcos manager(?) screaming at him “do not quit Marco! Fight for your family!” Was difficult to hear and I have to believe Ruas was not too pleased with being told that

Took classes with Ruas, Rizzo and Bas at BHJJC “back in the day”.
One Ruas class Sakuraba and Takada sat in. Only Sak and Takada would roll with each other and nobody else in the class (this was before Sak was famous and I think Takada was preparing for his Rickson fight).

Never heard Brennigan trained there
He trained with Ruas to work on his kickboxing. He said it in his interview. There was controversy at one Extreme Challenge when they announced him as affiliated with Ruas, and other fighters took offense. It’s on the 2000-2003 episode.
