The vast majority of my shirts are made by Gildan. Chances are you have a Gildan shirt laying around. Put it on, look at the size and see how it fits.
These shirts are 100% cotton. A couple of them are standard cotton, a couple ring-spun, and one is airlume cotton. Basically the first one is a standard shirt and the latter two are a little lighter, a little higher quality, and will shrink less. But i would always anticipate shrinking and go a size up.

The only clothing product I have that isn’t 100% cotton is the pullover hoodie. That one is a 50/50 cotton-polyester blend.
