So Ive got this chainsaw that is pretty sentimental. My dad and i spent lots of time up in the woods on the mountain working up firewoood. He ran the saw and i split the wood until we had a truck bed full. Ive got the saw now and i need to use it but the pull cord needs to be replaced. The screws that hold the cover on are stuck and i dont want to ruin them (or any other part of this beautiful machine) trying to get them out. Does anyone know of any stihl chainsaw specific tricks to get them out? Its a farm boss 041. Screws probably havent been taken out in 15 + years…
FRAT - the screws on this saw are stuck. Are there any Stihl/chainsaw specific tricks to get them out? Got em soaking in PB Blaster right now.
Sometimes after lubing them or heating them up and it’s still stuck you can just whack it with a hammer a couple of times and it sort of jolts it loose.
I though about this but im afraid of fucking up the surrounding area. Its the first time ive ever tred takng it apart and im not sure how sensitive the things behind the cover are. Also im pretty sure the fuel tank is part of the cover that im trying to remove.
