When I had spare time back in the day, I was a pretty competitive gamer. Back when the COD games would let you make your own “calling card” using many, many layers of rudimentary shapes; I would always make something real fruity or otherwise ridiculous because I was good enough that the other team would be seeing a lot of it. Nothing worse than getting killed by a guy with a sparkly unicorn or something over and over again. One of the games, I drew Homestar Runner and it made me happy in my soul.

I really love my Ziatora deck. It’s not quite my favorite, but its up there. As in the screenshot above, it has the ability to run away with the match without my commander (Ziatora, the Incinerator) ever hitting the battlefield…
There are a couple of cards I’m interesting in trying out in my real-life deck:
Goldspan Dragon (this is my most likely inclusion, it’s great in my Arena deck)
Old Gnawbone (unlikely b/c its over $40)
Railway Brawler (it absolutely fits the strategy, but I’m not 100% sold on it for some reason)

For shits & giggles, I actually live-streamed some Arena games on Saturday to my Discord. One of my nephews friends watched for a little bit. I let him decide which decks I used and discussed which of my opponent’s cards to remove. LOL. 10/10, would stream again!

That’s amazing! I’m sorry I don’t get around to sharing more. I have tons of screenshots saved. I’ll post them soon. I just had one of those, oh so satisfying games where the opponent was rolling. Had a lot of good stuff going on, on turn five. I didn’t have anything you’d be concerned about. He had 25 life to my 12, or something.
All I had in play was two Ajani’s Welcome and Delney. Was just biding my time to drop a gain/drain creature. One creature and he was done, with more damage on the stack. It’s funny because often times, it seems like the opponent doesn’t realize how many times that one damage (life) is going to proc. They’ll sit there, wringing their hands; ready for their turn then realize fifteen or sixteen damage in that it’s not going to stop in time. The guy in the last game stayed until he got down to 8 and realized he was cooked. Very satisfying.

I pulled this win out of my ass! I had taken a good lead, but then the “control” aspects of my opponent’s strategy began to take over and he enchanted my commander (Ziatora, the Incinerator) with Trapped in the Moon.
I got Xenagos, God of Revels onto the board, but I wasn’t pulling any creatures. I kept drawing spells & lands. However, I started getting things like Furnace Reins, Shackles of Treachery, etc…
So, he played that Electrostatic Infantry, I pumped it with Collision, then Xenagos doubled it’s power a toughness for me to end the match…
WHEW!!!
Was down to 1 life at one point. Fortunately my opponent kept focusing on Ajani rather than me. If he had focused entirely on my life total, he may have beaten me.

Love when that happens. I try to build decks with that in mind. I want to have more threats than they have solutions.

@Just_Dredd - have you been playing lately? Have you been encountering a bunch of matches where your opponent plays a couple of quick 0-1 cost artifacts then scoops?
I understand there’s a quest involved, but haven’t gotten a straight answer from anyone re: what the quest actually is? I haven’t seen it… it’s not part of achievements (that I’ve found), etc…
I have not.
I have noticed an uptick in auto-wincon decks though, and that isn’t fun. Can’t even adjust your play style for the meta any more because the matchmaking pairs you with what it wants you to play against, regardless.

Fuck this felt good! These Tatyova landfall decks are such a pain in the ass, and this guy had all the good cards on the board from the get-go… Bristly Bill, Mossborn Hydra, and then Tatyova herself…
I let him pump up Mossborn Hydra to 20/20 and just ate it. Then used Shackles of Treachery to kill him with his own creature. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!

Salty-assed bitch. Stopped playing once my win-con was on the board. Used Shackles of Treachery to steal his Rampaging Brontodon…
Also worth noting, the “easter egg” in the upper right-hand corner…
New magic the gathering cards at Costco. Commander deck outlaws thunder junction something or another. $42.99

Not bad. I’m not a huge fan of that particular set. There are a couple of cards I like in the Simic colors. The best card (okay, just my FAVORITE card) is Railway Brawler. That card is fucking nuts!
I actually like this latest Tarkir set, but I’m just not finding anything that I want to build around. I was happy to see Sultai get some love (my favorite tri-color combo), but the one incredibly awesome card, Kotis, the Fangkeeper just feels ‘dirty’…
I’m waiting to see the new Final Fantasy set that drops soon. Seems like there will be some really cool cards, like the Buster Sword:

Has anyone checked out the new set yet? Final Fantasy? It dropped while I’m vacationing in Italy, so I simply haven’t had time to check it out. I’ve seen the spoilers, of course…
This was so satisfying! Stole his Angel and he conceded.
