I agree he should have gone boxing heavy, And I don’t claim Conor to be a Genius.. I just don’t think he’s ‘that’ dumb…
It would have been beyond retarded to start with a flying kick on a messed up acl.
I suppose that this is where we differ. I think he’s that retarded.
And what a crap tastic match that was
He knew he had zero chance with a bum knee so he went with the Hail Mary play, imo.
It’s been 5 years since he last fought. This is a young, hungry man’s game.
People also seem to be overlooking the amount of shit Conor pumped into his body in that time. 100% roided to the gills - at one point he was barely recognisable.
Then prior to that. The booze, the Coke… all this talk about him being some kind of elite sportsman is nonsense. He could have been great, but he’s become an Irish meme, and it’s all self inflicted.
No sympathy at all.
Trained eye
Well there you go. He was already busted, but didn’t want to bow out of the fight, probably because he wanted the money. Wow.
An easy way out that avoided canceling the fight or having Max beat his ass.
He knew it was fucked. He threw the kicks to get out of there.
It was all over his face waiting for the fight to start.
Knee was prob a bit damaged but maybe docs told him he can fight and it would hold up
Yup.
He didn’t want to cancel the fight.
He knew it was fucked and took the least embarrassing way out while still getting paid.
And in his mind, it could even set the stage for a third payday with Max.
He’s crazy, but not dumb.
Muscle Shark is back!
Yep, like Cro Cop. Only took him like 5 years to figure the out after Gonzaga twisted Cro Cops knee. Once he started using his hands almost exclusively, he went on a huge win streak
I’ve never rooted for Connor but I think this was more about not cancelling the fight and not getting backlash for cancelling the fight. $30 million or whatever he got is definitely the icing on the cake with a scoop of ice cream on the side. But I think he would’ve crawled to the cage if he had to
Another hate watch, just like last night. Didn’t have to spend a dime either.
Two things come to mind for me
1 - He couldn’t find the motivation and killer instinct after 5 years out, broken leg, lawsuits and coke. He opened with the kick to sort of amp himself up mentally and make him feel like he’s in a fight.
2 - He didn’t wanna be in there, and knew his knee was fucked, and knew if he threw that kick he would eventually land wrong and the fight would be over
Personally I go with the first option, I don’t think he had the intensity he needed to be in a fight, and he threw the kick to try to pull himself in mentally.
I would hate if the second option were true, but it’s certainly possible.
