So what’s the deal with all the drama around Engin and broken contracts or something?
I haven’t really followed it closely, but from my understanding Knuckles Up signed Georgi Tsvetkov to a left-handed match because Georgi believed his contract was only for right-arm matches. Georgi was then told he couldn’t compete and even worse, he was told by the WAF that him and his whole team would be banned from any WAF events should he take the match.
This goes back to Engin signing exclusive contracts and also that WAF has a major issue with any events involving athletes on their banned list or using IFA referees. Some people argue that WAF is just protecting Engin and East vs West by applying their rules to some athletes but not others and so on.
Armwrestling has always had these issues for as long as I’ve followed the sport and it’s not good for anyone. I can see why East vs West want exclusive contracts, but this is inevitably what it leads to.
Appreciate it. I’m new to following the sport and still don’t know all the different orgs but saw this story kicking around. I don’t think I’ve watched any Knuckles Up events yet but I’ll keep an eye open.
