if you spar someone like Poatan getting flatlined is always an option. At his level even his 25% with knock out the average person. Probably less.

He was likely talking mad shit prior to the spar.
Most likely he wanted the left hooks to the body to stop. That’s real pain hes still feeling.

While I agree with a lot of what people are saying about getting what you give in hard sparring and the need for that kind of training, the big guy didn’t look like he was throwing heat or was capable of taking it. If youre not in a real camp training w a real fighter, you should be taking care of your partner if you know youre a mismatch.Taking the clip at face value, Alex probably shouldve tempered his punches because it doesn’t look like this guy had the fire or the skill for that kind of round.
That said, there’s a lot of factors we don’t know, like if the big guy was going hard earlier and just blew his load, or maybe he was warned of what he was getting into before the round started and accepted this as a potential risk. I’ll wait for the full story before passing judgement.

I’ve seen much more egregious examples in person and there’s probably a reason the video starts so late into the sparring session to push this narrative.

No. But knockouts definitely happened. I don’t think he was all the way out either. People stepping in while you throw a lead right. It can happen from a hard jab at that point. Even a weak kick that someone steps in on. I’ve had people step in while I was throwing weak kicks and catch a knee, out. But there wasn’t an abundance of malice in the kick it just happens.
