Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Bantamweight champion Petr Yan headlines his second ‘Fight Night’ this weekend (Sat., Nov. 23, 2024) against former two-time UFC Flyweight kingpin Deiveson Figueiredo inside Galaxy Arena in Macau, SRA, China.
Russia’s Yan sees his upcoming showdown with Figueiredo as a No. 1 contender fight and a chance to redeem himself against Bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili, aka his only loss on his record.
“To be honest, I feel like I only have one real loss on my record,” Yan said during UFC Macau media day. “I believe I’m able to compete with all of the top guys and still challenge for the belt. Deiveson is a former champ, and Merab, the current champ, is saying he’s the only real deserving challenger for his belt, and for me, it’s a good opportunity to get this position - to beat him and to challenge for the belt instead of him.”
It seems as if Yan has gone full Sean O’Malley and has erased four of his losses.
If a reminder is needed, Yan lost his professional fight to Magomed Magomedov via split decision before he was in the UFC but got that win back a year later in a rematch. “No Mercy” would then lose his title to Aljamain Sterling via disqualification due to an illegal knee—which is okay; he can have that loss back. He would lose a rematch to Sterling 13 months later via a split decision and then drop one last split decision to the aforementioned O’Malley at UFC 280.
His only real loss, according to him, was against Dvalishvili in his first main event.
While Yan’s record is 17-5, the “No Mercy” Athletic Commission deems it 21-1.
The first loss on his record is to Magomed Magomedov. A fight that should have been a Draw. But the promoter was pissed cause he wanted a decisive result and so he had the judges take a point away from Petr retroactively, causing him to lose
The next “loss” on his record is to Aljo Sterling by DQ. Lol @ Aljo Sterling. Petr Yan knocked him out with a knee and Aljo cried himself to a DQ “win”
The next “loss” was a razor sharp split decision loss to Aljo. A fight in which petr won. 1 4 5
The next “loss” on his record was the worst of them all. A fight in which he clearly won 30-27 against street whore Sean O’Faggy the self admitted cuck
Yan was one of my absolute favorites
Oh well, he would never beat Merab anyway
Fig vs Yan is one hell of a fight!!!
Merab is his only true loss
