Poker thread

Been funny watching BuffaloSam’s vlog recently.

Sold everything he had to live in his car and make $2 million playing poker and retire young.

3 vlogs in and he has already gone broke twice, lol

Pertinent to my interests. I’m on a 6/6 cash game win streak. Doh, I probably just jinxed it.

how do you like the life?

When it’s good it’s great and when it’s bad it’s horrible. I want to start a business because I don’t see myself getting rich this way. Technically been my dream job for many many years and I’ve worked a lot of odd casino jobs over the years to make it happen and finally have so some times I just gotta remind myself of that. Over all the positives outweigh the negatives, set my own schedule, hang out with buddies and new interesting characters every day, compete at something I’m good at etc.

i miss it man. i play sometimes. but the solver crowd makes me feel like i’m playing against machines. i can get to them with a little table talk sometimes. but some of those fuckers are robots.

I love studying and drilling with the solvers but not too many of my opponents do, I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a gto player but I play gto preflop ranges and strive to be a gto player. My opponents don’t seem to play gto ranges

The hard part about poker I learned playing in indian casinos, local cash games, local tournaments and Vegas donkuments is that while I am trying to take their money, they don’t want to give it to me. They instead have the audacity to try to take mine.

ps did anything come of the WSOP winner and his laptop?

I don’t think so

One of the neat things about progressing as a player is watching mid tier vloggers and picking up on mistakes they make when before I used to watch them for instruction

When I first moved to Vegas 10+ years ago, I had a lot of money and extra time. I played $2/5 and some $5/10 about 30 hours a week. I got to know the pros and the regs fairly well.

The whole scene would be miserable if that was your way of making a living. A phenomenal player could perhaps make 10BB an hour. That’s $100 an hour at 5/10 on a bankroll of 50k minimum, and most players are not phenomenal.

But, maybe things are different now.

i’ve always been a night owl. so one of my favorite strategies was to wake up real late in the day. like evening. then i’d go down to the poler rooms late when everyone had a good buzz on. many had been there all day. i’d order lime and soda quietly and tip the bar maid well to keep them coming.

basically i’d be sober as a judge and see who was slipping.
