(RAF) Real American Freestyle Thread

Power Slap, when you make some grandiose statement about something you have no experience in don’t be surprised when a differing opinion is expressed…

I know you are still salty…

Who the fuck is talking about Power Slap in a RAF thread?

RAF is just a show. The titles mean nothing. Any real wrestling person knows that winning the US Open or the trials or any of half a dozen other tournaments has much more meaning behind it. If you asked any real wrestler if he or she would rather win the open or RAF, it’d be the open every time.

It’s good that some actual wrestlers are getting paid.

Anybody notice that RAF is similar to RAW.

I say it like a a word too, not an initialism.

no wrestler who is still competitive internationally is going to chase a RAF belt over any World title…

here is the rub…

what i have heard is the basement price to show for one event is roughly equal to an entire years stipend from USAW for being #1 in the country at your weight…

RAF means absolutely nothing as compared to any gold medal and any international tournament, but…

there is nothing wrong with the money…

I haven’t read one person say what you are talking about in regards to national and international tournaments.

“The titles mean nothing”

Except they mean everything in regards to money and getting booked on future shows and helping sustain a viable financial career in wrestling. Not to mention the publicity and promotion that comes with it.

the money for our elite free wrestlers is a bit of a moot point in today’s landscape of RTCs and NIL…

our best can continue to wrestle now and chase the ultimate goal instead of having to stoop to MMA for a pay check…

but, the exposure is a huge component for future earnings for any of the wrestlers…

now, money and exposure for our greco guys would be exponentially huge when RAF decides to put a few greco matches on…

Not a YouTuber, but, a pretty good matchup…

I was wondering if they can build the brand name(RAF) to where it is a very respectable title in the wrestling world ..? They are still very new on the scene but seem able to attract elite wrestlers so that’s a good sign ..

Nothing in wrestling will ever eclipse an Olympic or World title…

furthermore, a World gold is much harder to win than an Olympic gold, but, just does not hold the overwhelming cache’ as that Olympic gold…

winning one match in RAF will never come close to the gauntlet a wrestler has to run to win a world title… 2 day same day scratch weigh ins… every country sending their absolute best… it is ridiculous…

Won’t happen.

They can build it to where it is respectable

It’s never going to be more than what it is. A show. The good thing about it is it promotes wrestling and gets guys a pay day.

You can see why it has remained a niche sport with a fan base primarily of friends and family.

Im excited , we leave in 1 week for the Jr Worlds

2 years ago it was sooooooo much fuuuuuun

you were right about Giorgio :frowning: he sucked lol

the meatheads have 9 Age and Senior level World teams between them…

US Open in a few weeks sets the Senior World Team and U23 World Teams… as of this year, Otto has aged out of U20 and still has 3 years of U23 eligibility… max has 1 year of U23 left…

Senior Pan Ams and U23 worlds is in America this year, so, kinda big deal… they both 100% expect to be on both teams…

Max #1 on the Senior ladder domestically and Otto #2#9 and #13 on the planet respectively…

LA 2028 is the end result…

Interesting match up as it 100% could have Senior World team implications…

Valencia should be sitting out until the best 2 out 3 at Final X…

Sinclair is (I believe) still U20 eligible…
