RIP Scott Bloomquist

I’ve been a fan for a while. He was one of the last guys that built, raced and won in his own cars.

I don’t feel bad about all the merch I drunkenly ordered ten years ago anymore.

I thought he posted here? I swear I talked to this guy before.

His car has been my avatar for a decade or more by now.

I swear he posted in/was a part of our F1 fantasy team. Maybe I’m making that up. Maybe I’m confusing him with someone else. But he talked about a lot of shit that I’d consider insider info.

Scott was a dirt oval racer living in Tennessee so he probably don’t have much insight into that world. He did race in the NASCAR truck series once and placed dead last. He decided he didn’t need a sway bar.

Not F1. NASCAR and dirt track shit. It shows real names in our fantasy league and his names there… maybe it’s still fake. The old site had tons of posts by this guy talking about rivalries and shit between himself and dudes. Fights in the pits. Money shit. Etc.

Could still be a lie.

Crazy. He would have all those stories. Damn, I wish I could see those posts.

This is what I miss most about losing the site man.

Kenny makes some points about Scott’s health and financial issues.

I’ll check this out later. He mentioned some financial things a while back. Maybe a divorce if I remember correctly?

Yeah he was divorced. I remember a few years back he had apparently sold the rights to his merch to a promoter that tried making the “dirt million” race that ended up only paying about 20% of that. I think his chassis business was sold as well. I have no idea what his source of income was the last few years because he never won anything after that motorbike accident.

Someone in the F1 thread gave me the name it might’ve been. Par Deux. If anyone has access to the OldG maybe they can look for him?

I tried with hyphens, underscores, one word, nothing.
