Roger Waters Movie " This Is Not A Drill " JULY Dates

Eh, he wasn’t the same without them but Division Bell was beautiful and Gilmour’s solo album On An Island is awesome.

Man ..no offense, but I think you need to read up on Floyd.

I don’t have a dog in the fight.
Waters might be a liberal retard now, but I’m not going to let that spoil all the great music.
And Gilmour is in my top 2 favorite guitar players.

Reducing Waters’ contributions to “one memorable bass line”, is absurd.
It’s simply not reality.

Dont forget momentary lapse of reason. Gilmore was more of pink floyd than waters. He can do waters parts. Waters cannot replace gilmore. No one can.

Then why hasnt he wrote 1 piece of memorable music since parting with the band? Hes been living off the Wall ever since. Yes he was a major part of the main Pink Floyd catalog but obviously he was just a cog not the motor.

Word. Rumor has it though Roger can BANG

I don’t know who is better, but the world wouldn’t know who either one of them is if they never had each other.

Man, no offense, but I think you need to read up on song written by Gilmore for Floyd

Comfortably numb, and wish you were here are prob the most commercially popular songs in their catalog besides the wall part 2 and they where both written by gilmore

Oh well, since you put it that way…

So how come none of the songs on Momentary Lapse of Reason are anywhere near as good as Comfortably Numb?

lol. I actually really like that album, it’s cool but the songs are not on the level of The Wall or other Pink Floyd stuff. Just an intended different direction maybe? More energized in a lighter, positive way. It sounds like cool atmospheric 80s music, some of it seems like stuff that would be on the Miami Vice soundtrack. Drive around at night playing it like Sonny Crockett.

I remember hearing Comfortably Numb was based on the personal experience of Waters being fucked up on something and having to perform. It was an artistic genius level song, probably based on Waters and Gilmore working together creating the perfect formula.

Yeah.

I really dig Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell.

But the “big 4” Floyd albums ( Dark Side, Wish You were Here, Animals, The wall) are not only on another level – they are pretty much in their own elite musical category – and all 4 are so different.

Roger Waters was a HUGE part of writing those, to the point where most of the lyrical and conceptual themes came from him.
Obviously it was a collaboration, and Gilmour was also a huge part of it.

Gilmour is a better singer and player than Waters.
But we don’t get those albums without Waters’ creative drive. They complimented each other.

For people to act like Waters was somehow along for the ride in terms of song writing or those albums as a whole, is just not consistent with reality.

Comfortably Numb” is a song by the English rock band Pink Floyd, released on their eleventh studio album, The Wall (1979). It was released as a single in 1980, with “Hey You” as the B-side.

The lyrics were written by the bassist, Roger Waters, who recalled his experience of being injected with tranquilisers before a performance in 1977; the music was composed by the band’s guitarist, David Gilmour. Waters and Gilmour argued during the recording, with Waters seeking an orchestral arrangement and Gilmour preferring a more stripped-down arrangement. They compromised by combining both versions, and Gilmour said the song was the last time he and Waters were able to work together constructively.
