Just saying Ronda’s competition had been pretty shit up til Holly who trained and was a real athlete. Miesha should have won the rematch but had the most retarded gameplan in history against her. Ronda is a heckuva a judoka no doubt though.

Ronda is great for showing what judo can do versus people with no grappling experience and limited athletic ability. Holly simply worked on takedown defense and she’s a bigger, stronger, athlete than Ronda. When Ronda couldn’t bully her to the ground she was in trouble.
As far as the shit show last night I didn’t think it looked fake, I just think it looked like a Olympic judoka versus a woman that’s 44 yo, fresh off a 100lb plus weight loss, who never had any grappling ability and still doesn’t because her entire goal in this camp was to make her fat body look presentable enough to market the fight.

I just rewatched it. Holly did get lucky slipping out of those two takedowns but clearly ran the show on their feet.
Still think it easily could have gone the other way though.

Ronda actually shot a nice double leg last night, couldn’t remember the last time I saw her shoot like that when she was fighting.
I agree that she gets by on athleticism, but she has a lot of it, and she has a grit and killer instinct that no other female fighter has ever had. Most females wilt under that pressure and intensity, she had enough skill, but she also had the intangibles.
Even if she couldn’t take Gina down, Ronda wanted to win way more, and was going to do whatever it took to finish her.
It wasn’t just Holly’s size and skill that gave Ronda trouble, it was the range, and Holly’s composure. Holly had been fighting for a long time at that point and wasn’t rattled by the moment, and wasn’t afraid of Ronda. She was patient, picked her shots, and got the job done. If she didn’t have the composure she eventually would have been overwhelmed by Ronda’s pressure.

Kayla is a more accomplished Judoka yet Ronda seems to be able to apply it to MMA in a more dominant fashion. If you’re a female with a background being elite at any discipline, most females will struggle to compete with them.
Ronda could walk into the UFC right now and beat everyone except for Kayla. Ronda’s tenacity and killer instinct made women afraid of her.

The only decent athlete before Holly Ronda fought was choke artist Sarah McMann and that was an early stoppage. Those fights with Holly and Amanda stole her soul. This fight was an attempt to end her career with a win and ride off into the sunset. I never have found her to be likeable but good for her i guess. Gina made over a million dollars in fight purse too.

As someone who works in pro wrestling, I’m disappointed that Rousey didn’t stand at all and give fans something to look at. Obviously she was going to armbar carano at will, and she had a right to do it when she wanted, but most men in what amounts to an easy exhibition match would have known to at least make it look good for a minute or two, like Tyson and Paul. I get that Carano has an acting career to save her face for and Rousey wants to be healthy for her wrestling career, but to me that fight was a reminder that women aren’t entertaining fighters.

I have to agree with Williepep here. The crowd was dead, the place was half empty, something was “off” with this event. Carano clearly was there for the check. You’d think she’d drill day and night the clinch, the throw, and then the armbar defense. She clearly had no preparation. Did she train with any judo people? Any footage of her grappling?
Rousey seems to be a little more humble, or at least someone finally got in her ear about not being such a cunt.
