One of my friends had a junk removal business and gave me all kinds if stuff. The best was a top tier(for them) Ridgid shop vac and a really nice cigar humidor.
He found cash and gold and silver a lot. At least one of them in almost every house he did clean outs on. He is a super honest and good dude and would always give it to whomever hired him.
He also found plenty of nasty stuff in the hoarder clean outs, but would price those crazy and worth his time.

Yep. Same deal, sorta. We buy and sell. These are left over personal effects from over the years. We just grab it, maybe keep it, and then end up giving it away of dumping it.
My biggest thing is some of it can’t be replaced. Old books, for example. A text book on psychology from 1903. Does it have any value? I doubt it, but I hate throwing it in the dumpster.
Found some guys paperwork for a patent he was trying to get and all the schematics for his invention. Then the letter from the US patent office showing him a German man beat him by 3 years and icing him by sending him a pic of the German dude’s invention. lol
So he kept that for almost 100 years, now I have it and I just throw it in the can?
Draft letters, Diaries from the 1890’s, letters of condolences about a passed loved one from 1869. Shit like that I struggle with. Eventually I ditch it.
Today I just found a yearbook from the graduating class of 1899’s year book! Bye bye local history, you hold no value as all those folks are dead.

Any of them metal things pewter? Don’t put them on the curb. People that do ammo reloads melt lead but need a flux and pewter is popular. Somebody will use them.

It did. No one wanted it, besides 3 items so it all went to goodwill and the dump.

Yesterday I foudn my box of old lighters. These are the ones I thought I’d save. I threw out about 2 X as many. I showed my buddy a pic of them and he came up with a great idea. We’d repair them all, polish, some cerekote other parts, and give them away in promos on his website.
I thought now that’s a great idea! So I ran out to the curb to get the 50+ vintage lighters and they were gone. Shit! But we will refinish/repair some of these. Some should be cool as shit cerekoted camo, lasered and numbered.
