# Taking Nolan off the back

I think it was a bad move. I felt he was surviving and holding the gloves. I don’t think people should be rewarded for tying up people in Mount, back Mount or side control

Yes I know the fight went the full timeframe and ended, and Kevin has since passed away (RIP) but Joe is a purist

I can see if someone is just holding on for dear life. If the bottom guy keeps getting his back taken and all he has to do is hold the gloves to get a stand up that is pretty lame. Nolan looked like he was on the way to victory anyway but it doesn’t negate the cheapness of the move
