There is no such thing as “present day Slayer”. When Hanneman died, they were running on fumes. When Lombardo left (for the final time), it was over.

No complaints from me. Ill take it a step further - they rested on their laurels since seasons. Everything since then has been boilerplate fodder.

I did really like the song they did for dracula 2000 tho.

You’re half right. They still did a lot of good stuff but their consistency suffered.

Hanneman wrote most of the music up to and including SITA. He then went into semi-retirement and KK took over. Hanneman was apparently already starting to feel the effects of his drinking by that point - by the time they toured Divine Intervention he was having serious problems with arthritis/gout in his wrists (Rob Flynn went in to that after Hanneman died).

Oh, and I don’t consider Repentless to be a Slayer record. You cannot remove both Jeff AND Dave and still call yourselves Slayer.

Although I did like the early version of Implode.
