Very wrong there buddy. I have been married for over 27 years to a Christian, and we just don’t talk about it. I respect her views and she respects mine. If I ever get approached by anyone who wants to talk about religion, then I usually find a polite way to change the subject. In my experience, religious people get too offended and upset if I merely tell them that I do not believe any of the things they do, so I just avoid it as to keep it civil. If they want to press the subject and keep bringing it back to it, then I may start asking them open ended questions, but I never incite an argument.

If my wife was talking about atheist or atheism and saying lots of incorrect things about it, then yeah I would have the same things to say to her, but it’s unnecessary because we respect each other. Also, I am respectful on here (for the most part) when it comes to religions. I typically only get involved to correct misconceptions and prejudices against atheists/atheism. I am usually involved in discussions about atheists/atheism, and not specifically religion.
Not sure this is the ONLY time you get on religious threads… when I made my initial statement, you didn’t push back… you reached to use the example of how you interact with your wife… it is what it is.
And folks here can SEE how various types of atheists engage. WE have eyes and can observe.
So, not sure why you feel the need to take it upon yourself to correct ‘misconceptions’ when those perceptions are the product of actual INTERACTIONS here…
As I said, your “exemplary” above about how ‘atheists’ respond or engage almost never ACTUALLY happens here… and yet you feel the need to try to ‘enforce’ this ‘normative’ framing by, to use your own words, “correct[ing] misconceptions and prejudices” - why? And so often…
Look, we UNDERSTAND what atheists CLAIM they are. Problem is we also NOTICE in the real world when actions don’t match words… The fact that for some strange reason you have taken it up yourself to try to ‘correct’ this is STRANGE…
In fact, if you really feel strongly about it… perhaps you should be more on the lookout for how ATHEISTS interact and call THEM OUT for straying from your idealized archetype, RATHER than blaming others for it…

Countries with an official state religion are not atheist.
Simple.
It would be wrong to claim America is atheist, using your definition, as our foundational documents specifically state that our rights were provided to us by God. An atheist country would not abide by that claim.
