Edgar will be competing on the BKFC 82 card on Oct. 4. Heâll be taking on fellow ex-UFC fighter Jimmie Rivera, who has five bare-knuckle fights on his resume. Appearing on MMA Junkie Radio, âThe Answerâ revealed that his closest family members werenât initially on board with his decision to return to prizefighting.
âMy close family definitely was against it,â Edgar said. âFor sure, my wife, my kids, my parents, but I talked them into it, I guess you could say. At least enough for me to get the OK. I donât know if I got their blessing, but I got the OK.
âThey think I donât need it. I donât need to do this. Iâm not searching for pennies or anything under the couch. Itâs not that I need it. They get who I am. My wife knew what she got into when she signed up for this a while back. She knows the kind of person I am, and Iâm sure this is not too surprising for her.â
Edgar hasnât competed since Nov. 2022 when he was knocked out by Chris GutiĂ©rrez. At the time of his retirement, many agreed that âThe Answerâ had given all he could to MMA. It wonât be long before fans find out if Edgar has some juice left in the world of bare-knuckle boxing.

âŠ..heâs going to get eaten aliveâŠ
But why? Why are these broken down old guys wanting to destroy their brain and faces even more. Surely he has fucking money. From fighting and i would think training some.. he canât be that broke.
Not sure why bkfc would pull him at the last minute. They seem to have some big backers so they can afford paying him
fighting on an expired chin is a bad idea, especially bare knuckle
we have seen this beforeâŠ
Iâd rather see him fight another old guy on the Whitehouse lawn.
I wonder how strict are the athletic commissionâs Medical and Physical requirements for licensing retired fighters these days.
