Shit pic as I usually fish solo. First summer run of the season for me.
Do you eat em? Any good?
Absolutely not.
Fishing rodeo is today. My bro in law caught them and brought them to my house to weigh. He’s going to enter them in the tournament. His 10 year old son caught one of them.
I’ve seen them on tv and online. I dont know if i’d swim in the same waters as those things. Must be so much fun to catch
Got my biggest muskie ever today a 52" , best fight of my life and the 2nd I’ve caught over 50"..
Congrats man, that’s amazing
It truely was, live release as well brother.
Congrats, thats a giant.
thats awesome where were you fishing?
There are too many sharks, gators, sting rays, & jellyfish to worry about the alligator gar
Trent River between locks 6 & 7.
My youngest caught his first Musky yesterday. He’s over the damn moon right now, he’s been after one for years!
Holy shit, that’s amazing. Did he happen to measure length? He did a good job getting his hand in the gill plate on such a big fish. I’ve seen plenty of adults scared of a pike 1/4 that size. That is the skinniest musky i’ve ever seen lol
They said 46" (I’d have to go back and check the text), and agree looks skinny but think it’s just the photo angle, there’s another of him holding by himself and it looks much thicker.
Funny enough about being scared to hold it, the line snapped right at shore and the fucker jumped on it to secure the catch!
He was “king of the lake” as he puts it as it was his year end hockey party and the lake was busy when he hauled it in.
Caught it on French River, btw.
That is amazing. Reminds me of when i was 12 and caught a big laker at the campground my parents ran. I took it around to all the campsite to show everyone lol, i was the hero there for a couple days.
There’s good muskies on the french, such a nice body of water. Lots of history with fur trading too as you know
Maybe not as thick as I thought, but a little different than pic above.
Regardless, kid is absolutely to the moon right now.
He was hooked before, now he’s full blown fish fever.
Unfortunately I missed it being with another one of my kids in the Soo for football.
Back to reality. One of the dogs was a bloody magnet for the deer flys and wasps. She took an eyebrow hit from something.
Boys had fun and caught plenty of fish despite my makeshift bow mount - tiller endura that saved the trip. Not a single walleye though. My old man hooked up with one on a top water and lost it at the boat. Mid day, I’d not have believed it if I didn’t get eyes on it myself.
We’ll probably try and get back up to that area one more time for maybe a camping trip. Next summer we have 2 weeks booked back to back so we’ll have to try and hook up @iFish_CTT for a fish and/or a beer.
thats awesome! The French is so stingy where muskie are concerned. That fish is old. Maybe has AIDS but is in its twilight for sure
I didnt realize that
well it sure as shit is for me haha
But the best guides on the french, as long as weather permits, most of them will bolt right for the big lake when they head out. You can get a 55 inch + in the french, there is just so many more fish in the big lake. The spots on that lake are always being replenished its so impressive.
I was talking to a veteran angler on that lake (DC) and he told me that the lake protects itself with the winds. I mean, there are many days when you cannot get from South Shore to the mouth of the french. Muskie anglers love fishing the mouth region. But the winds can be so hospitable. He told me that was how the lake protects itself and its muskie population. The winds also blow fish onto spots on the regular so this explains why the same honey holes can keep producing. Such an amazing lake.
