I’m about to put a major life obstacle behind me, one that’s consumed a good portion of the last 4 years. I thought I’d commemorate it with a nice watch, thinking of a Panerai or Omega.
Pretty sure I want pre-owned, but I’m kind of in the weeds as to where to begin, aside from finding them at retail and see how they look/feel/wear.
Precious “nice” watch was my Omega, but it’s been over 20 years, I’m rusty as to the market and predilections.

Can’t really comment on Panerai but you can never go wrong with Omega. Always great second hand deals on Chrono24. If you’re buying from a reputable professional dealer with a brick&mortar store who has a ton of feedback on there, it’s hard to get ripped off. Especially given that your money goes into escrow and you have up to 2 weeks to get the watch checked out after you receive it before the money is released.
Bless the Japanese salarymen for constantly filling the empty spot in their souls with watches and off loading the ones they bought last week to the closest watch dealers lol …always great deals for as-new barely-touched Omega’s from Japanese dealers.
In commiefornia 6-8 grand gets you a parcel the approximate size of a washcloth.
With Omega I find myself constantly vacillating between Seamasters and Speedmasters. 1st world problems, I know,
